This sounds like ignition noise, in the old days. Not sure about the type of vehicle you have, but I would run it by an audio installation/repair shop, and they will most likely have a fix. The condenser use to soak up the spark noise from old ignition points, and you may have a similar issue with the electronic ignition, or a bad ground that's not allowing noise to be completely grounded.
Good luck, thanks for using FixYa, and hope this helps.

My 2007 Land Rover Freelander makes a whistling sound when vehicle is idling. Sound goes away when accelerating or applying petrol?

it may be a turbocharger if so equipted, lots of turbocharged cars whistle as the unit gets older..only other thing I can think of is something with the exhaust system.. get it looked at by putting the car up on a lift and inspecting it..now some cars also whistle thru the radio ..this is called alternator whine and is usually correected by a filter in the power line of the radio...good luck

Whistling sound form tweeters

The unit is picking up noise from the electrical system of the vehicle--power is either connected to the wrong place or a noise filter needs to be inserted at the voltage source for this equipment.

Whistling noise when accelerating

you most likely have an aftermarket radio installed
the noise you hear is engine noise, if yo turn your radio off it will go away
this can be fixed by either getting better wiring for your aftermarket radio or by installing a noise filter, you can purchase that at most big electronic stores

2008 toyota tacoma whistling noise

I don't know how loud the noise is, but its weird that you mention 50 mph. At that speed or above you are keep a constant rpm level. I say this because it might just be your air box loose and the sound of the intake air is making it. A 2008 truck should not have any major problem. Sometimes an alternator will sing or whine but never heard anyone say something is whistling. One other thing is sometimes for some reason ive heard a noise like that coming from the speakers of my car that goes up and down with the speed of the motor, but that was when I was tinkering with speakers and sub outs and amps. Thats all I can think of.
