Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure.
Most Hoover canister the screws are recessed and you can use a screwdriver to match the head of the screw and also to check you owner’s manual to see an exploded view of the vacuum to see how it comes apart and by looking @ the exploded view you can see what type of screws they used. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.

The brushes are not working.

We have a Max Extract 60 and when we turned it on the brushes did not work. My husband took the pieces for the brush motor apart and put it back together and then they worked fine. They must of been bound up or put together wrong. Works great now.

Power nozzle works intermittently

The pin connection from the lower handle tube to the power nozzle are not making good contact. It is new, so i would have warranty service performed.

It won't turn on at all. Tried different outlets.

i had a similar problem when i moved mine. All that was wrong was the handle portion on the top had shifted ever so slightly that it wouldn't work. Just had to push it back in pace and it works fine (Just under the turbo brush and over the release for the canister, you will see a seam). hope this helps:)
