Okay; Have you tried adjusting the contrast? This is a common problem with Ti calculators. Try pressing 2nd and up. This will darken the screen. If the screen becomes too dark press 2nd and down to lighten it. Happy Calculating

Won;t power up at all. New batteries but I did not replace back up battery. should I? Tried the contrast fix. Son said he dropped it and it got kicked down hall at school. One year old. Any hope?

Hello,

If new batteries did not solve the problem, the next thing to check would be the battery terminal.

If the battery terminal is rusty, the battery power won't contact and the calculator won't turn on. So, use a flat small screw drive to scratch the battery terminal so that there would be contact.

If the above is not the problem, the next to check would be the wire connecting the battery terminal to the the calculator's main board. There is a wire between the battery terminal and the calculator board. When the battery is inserted, the power from the battery goes from the terminal to the board through this wire. There is a possibility that this wire is cut in-between or is loosing contact. In this case, you need to get a small screw driver and carefully disassemble the calculator in order to check the wire.

If the wire is intact, use a light brush to brush the calculator board as there might be dust on the board.

If non of the above helps, then it means the calculator is dead and needs a replacement.

Regards.

It's "frozen". won't change from the screen its

Try to reset it by taking out the batteries and leaving to sit for a minute or so, if that doesn't work take out the small battery as well and leave it sit, if you're still stuck you can call ti-cares (800-842-2737) they're generally very helpful.

Change all batteries, and have update with the new OS but the calculator is still unstable. Cant turn on the calculator sometimes

You can try to reset it by leaving it sit with the aaa batteries out. If it's still acting strangely you can fully reset it by taking out all of the batteries (including the back up watch battery) and letting it sit for a bit. If that doesn't work either call Ti-Cares 800-842-2737, they're very helpful.

How cold is too cold for the S730?

Take the camera inside and let it warm up to room temperature. Get another set of brand new batteries. But first take out the batteries and let it sit for an hour. Without any power it can reset itself. The mini cpu inside is thinking its too cold and won't let it come on. After the one hour of sitting, put the new batteries in it and try to power it up. Cold weather can kill a brand new set of batteries in a matter of minutes. You should try not using your camera when its below freezing.

Black-Screen/Black-Pixel Fix for TI-Calculator

This will erase all memory and reset defaults.

1. Remove 1 AAA Battery
2. Press and Hold 'ON' for 30 seconds
3. Replace AAA Battery
4. Adjust Contrast to appropriate level

If this fails, try again with ALL Batteries removed including
the backup Lithium Battery.

If all else fails, try the following reset procedure:

1. Remove ALL Batteries (inc. Backup)
2. Let Calculator sit with no batteries for 2~4 hours.
3. Hold 'ON' for 30 seconds.
4. Replace all the batteries (May be good idea to use new batteries
just in case old ones were dead)
5. Turn on Calculator
6. Change Contrast to appropriate level

- Remember to use correct batteries or calculator may not work. The
correct batteries are Alkaline, Rechargable Batteries are TOO WEAK,
Heavy Duty batteries are TOO STRONG.
