    Lates MP3 player is a Samsung YP-T10

  • ibbyco May 06, 2008

I tried that...I think the problem lies in that Mp3 players treat audio books like music! ie: they don't seem to take much notice of the order of things?

How and where do i put e-books on my mp3 player model HS-57

If by e-books you mean books you can read (visually), you are out of luck. On an MP3 player you can only LISTEN to AUDIO books in MP3 format. You can buy such books at Amazon.com and other places. Another option is to check with your public library to see if they have a downloadable audio book service, which is free but with limited number of books. You download the books to your computer, connect the player to the computer using the USB cable that came with the player and copy/transfer the books from the computer to the player.

How do I get the volume to work?

Your reader is for Ebooks, i.e. books in formats suitable for READING only and that is all you can do with the 100 Ebooks the reader came with. What you are thinking of are AUDIO books. Ebooks = you can only read them (visually), cannot listen to them. Audio books = you can only listen to them, cannot read them.

However, since your reader is also an MP3 player and the most popular format for audio books is MP3, you can download audio books to your PC and then transfer them to your reader to take them with you and listen to them wherever you are. From your PC you can also copy the audio books to an SD memory card and then put that card on your reader. Here are 3 ways to get audio books:

1. from your public library (if you live in USA)
2. see the two links I have attached to my answer.ww

Downloading audio books onto a Sony MP3 player.

MP3 players can only play music and audio books files in mp3 file format. You can download mp3 music files from the Internet to your computer and then copy them to your MP3 player using the USB cable. For your CD collection, you need to convert your CDs to mp3 music files onto your computer or download them from the Internet and then copy them to your MP3 player after you have connected the USB cable to the MP3 player and the computer.
You can do this using Windows Media player and Rip the CDs - Media Player will create a MP3 music file for each music track. Click on this link for instruction on converting music files to mp3 file format :- http://www.fixya.com/support/r5798418-creating_transferring_mp3_music_files

My problem is me. I wanted an MP3 player so I could download an audio book and play it without being connected to my computer. That's what I thought my Buildwon MP3 player was, but now I have it I see...

There are proper audio book readers and there are MP3players

Most audio book player have the ability to pay the book at different speeds without affecting the speech itself

Proper audio books also use a different format for the recordings and thats the only real difference I found.

What I did was find a software convertor that took the original audiobook file and converted it to a more standard MP# file or whatever your preference is.

The disadvantage is that many of the converted files tend to be bigger so an MP3 player should have plenty of storage.

What you would do is transfer the audio book file to your computer
run it through the convertor software then just transfer it to the MP3 payer and listen at your own leasure

there is lots of software out there and much of it can also be had free

you will need to upgrade the hardware and then it should play Audible books. Go to Programs on your computer... to the Phillips device manager (several levels of menus). It should prompt you to upgrade.
