Question about Air Conditioners

1 Answer

Since we had a new consumer unit with trip switches fitted with 100DP isolator and 30mA RCD, our Smeg 90cm Duel fuel cooker trips it when the main oven is on. The top oven and grill work fine, but as soon as the main oven reaches it's required temperature, it trips the box, we flip the switch to return the supply and it then can do it a couple of times more . We are going to get the main cut-out fuse upgraded from 80A to 100A and the meter upgraded to 100 amps from 40amps. Do you think that this will solve our problem, or do you think it is a problem with the oven itself? Our electrician did a full circuit survey and did not find anything wrong with either the appliance or the supply. But, he isn't a domestic repair electrician. Any advice gratefully received. Thanks.

Someone should check the current draw by the appliance. Then compare it with the name plate to determine if the problem is with the appliance or external power supply.

Circuit breaker switch to rv water heater blew and will not reset. Was working until I overloaded the unit's 30 amp service. Reset GDIF switch and replaced water heater element, per RV tech's advice.

if you have overloaded the system , it is possible that at some point the insulation has broken down and there is current leakage that is tripping the rcd unit
the current can be in milliamps so best get in an electrician to check the entire system on that breaker

MCB keeps tripping

Could be a blocked outlet pipe were you carefull with the sealing washers.? if the pump is getting back pressure and struggleing it may overheat and blow or maybe remove the mesh filter if one is fitted
if a simple reason is a not apparent do not fiddle around any more isolate the supply and find an electriction there is serious voltage in the there enough to start a fire or kill you ! please be carefull best of luck !

Unit will not turn even if manual switch is pressed on indoor unit

may have tripped the circuit breaker, blown a fuse on the indoor circuit board or someone may have turned off the isolator switch

When you switch fan to high speed it trips fuse to unit and main fuse. seems to run ok on low speed but not very cold

You have a short circuit in your high speed and you can either run your unit on low speed all the time or you will need to replace the motor to correct the problem.
