Gateway recovery

I am trying to recover my gateway as it will not boot properly. Keeps restarting itself. When I load the recovery disk and restart the computer I get the screen where you type in "R" for recovery but I never get the screen to press "R" for standard recovery, press "F" to format the hard drive or press the "Q" to quit or boot the OS on hard drive. It will just sit there after pressing R the first and the R,F, Q options menu will not load. I have tried cleaning the disk to see if that resolves the issue. I have let the pc sit for over an hour to see if the menu would load, nothing. Opened the tower to see if it was dusty, looks good as I had to clean it prior to this. Any ideas??

I also wanted to add that I went to turn on the pc and it will not detect the monitor. This is an issue I had in the past, cleaned out all dust and it resolved the issue. I also know that it is not the monitor as it works great on my other pc. So I know it is something in the pc. Anyway, know I cant even get a screen up to try recovery again. Please help!!

Well apparently I still have a dust issue as I used can air to clean and the monitor turns on again. Unfortunelty still sits on the please wait screen in system recovery.
