Question about Thermos QuickSet 462836203 (LP) Grill

Open Question

What I think is the "heat plate" melted or disintegrated on my Thermos 14000 Quickset grill, 461733803. Any ideas on how to replace it and prevent this in the future?

SOURCE: a burner knob somehow melted off and now when I

You may have a blockage in the tubes connected to your gas valve. It could be a spider web.
The burners may not be connected to the valve properly.
It could be an overfilled propane tank, and the overfill protection kicked in.
It could be a bad regulator.

Cadial, I would be interested in two plates if you still have any left. I have two of these grills and I love them, I've just worn the plates out.

We just got a new propane tank and connected it and propane is not coming through

I'll assume you had it purged of air before you had it filled, right? A full 20lb tank should weigh about 35-38 lbs. If so try this: Leave the tank valve closed for a few minutes. Then open the tank valve very slowly. It may have a built-in excess flow valve in the hose that is checking closed and preventing you from getting gas. See if that helps.

Change the igniter on a thermos bbq

You may not have to change the igniter. It works like a spark plug (passing a small spark from an electrode (a small wire sticking from the bottom of the ceramic tube at the lower end of the igniter) to a metal plate positioned close to the tip. If the plate gets covered with soot or grease from cooking it won't work. Try cleaning the plate and bending it closer to the igniter tip. If the igniter is really bad and needs replacement, you can get a new one at most hardware stores. Installation is very easy.

We just got a new propane tank and connected it and propane is not coming through

Disconnect and reconnect hand tight, open slowly, if this doesn't do the trick than tank valve is bad. Another thing that could be bad is your regulator, but I would start with tank first is grill worked before new tank.
