SLOT ???? should be a little hole - you would fit a paper clip into it.

My std practice is to power off, use paper clip in hole turn on router - hold PC for 10 sec that should default router.

once defaulted use MS- EI on you pc to talk to router on enter on your address bar 192.168.1.1 (most common DHCP address)

Wireless not working - the wireless light on the front of the unit is not on...the wireless settings don;t seem to work...netgear's phone support only wanted to charge me!

Hi,

Please reset the router and then reconfigure it. To reset the router follow the below steps:

At the back of the router you will find a small tiny hole (which says restore to factory default settings). Press the button with the help of a paper clip and hold it down for 30 seconds. After 30 seconds, please release the button and power off the router for 5 seconds then power the router back.
Please reconfigure the router by running router configuration wizard.

If the issue persists then you may go for free online support with netgear by visiting the below link: my.netgear.com

Netgear not working after power failure

Netgears are NOTORIOUS for this. If a hard reset didn't fix it, the one where you hold the red button down for like 30 seconds then it is gone. I have replaced SO MANY of these. The first thing that went on them was the wireless and they did have tons of complaints on this at one time as well.
Get a Linksys rounter, I have hardly EVER had any problems with them and they are now owned by Cisco, even better.

My netgear do not power up

Please check if the power supply is connected properly to the router. Perform the steps below to reset the router:

At the back of the router you will find a small tiny hole (which has a small button inside it). Press the button with the help of a paper clip. and hold it down for 30 seconds. After 30 seconds, please release the button and power off the device for 5 seconds.

Check if the router powers up. If the issue persists then please get the router replaced from your reseller, as it seems to be a hardware failure.

Let me know if you need any further help.

Press it and hold it from 30 seconds and after 30 seconds without releasing the reset button take out the power cable from the router and wait for 20 seconds. After 20 seconds, without releasing the reset button plug the power cable back to the router and keep holding the reset button for another 30 seconds. Now, release the button and take out the power cable wait for 5 seconds then plug it back.

No lights on except power light.

The firmware has been messed up. DDWRT might be incompatible with your router. I would highly recommend to reload the factory firmware or the latest firmware from Netgear's website. Loading 3rd party firmware will void the warranty of your device.

What hould be done to the software dwnloaded from netgear 4 route

You don't need a CD to configure your Netgear wireless router.
Just connect a network cable to your computer's 10baseT port and the plug the other end of the cable into the Netgear's 10baseT port.
Assuming your network card driver has been installed, configured and working, boot up your computer, and start your browser and enter this address http://192.168.0.1 Then enter the
user login = admin
password = admin
This enters you into the various configuration pages.

If you have changed the login and password and don't remember them, then you can reset the router to the factory defaults by the following steps.
Power off the Netgear, press and hold the reset button (you need a sharp pointer) on the back of the router, then power up the Netgear router, wait seveal seconds until the LEDs stop flashing, then release the reset button.

NEtgear RP614 cannot connect after a electricity shortage in our home :(

How is it not working? You get limited or no connectivity or it isn't functioning at all. Firstly, let's do a power cycle. Push the reset button for 5 seconds, unplug for 45 seconds, and reset 5 seconds, and unplug for 45 seconds. If that doesn't work try a hard reset. Alright, it's time to do a hard reset, this will rest all your passwords, Take a Pen or a pin, push the pin the the reset hole for 45 seconds, Uplug the modem for 1 minute, reset hole for 30 seconds, unplug for 30 seconds, and it should be hard resetted also power cycle.
