Question about Sony RCD-W500C 5-Disc CD Recorder

1 Answer

This Sony manual is extremely difficult to understand. I want to make my own music CD's, using tracks from various CD's and recording them in normal speed; so I can listen while I'm making the new CD. It would be great if someone could provide a simple list of instructions on how to creat my own CD recording. Thank you. John Spreer

    Hi,

Thank you very much for your assistance with this.

    I'm wondering now . . .

When I press PLAY > on the A Deck and then simultaneously release the Pause || button on the B Deck, the timing is slightly off, which results in a slight delay between recorded tracks.

Is there a better way to do this so I can make the recorded tracks tighter together?

Thanks again. I look forward to your reply.

    John

Hi,
There is simple way to record favorite tracks while listening then is to put recordable disc in deck B, press Rec and Pause button to get ready the unit to record, now put favorite cd in deck A and select the track that you want to record, play that track and press Pause button to start recording on disc in deck B, this way you can record one track of your own choice.
next method is to put 5 discs in deck A and mark all those tracks that you want to record through program feature and press record button to start recording, unit will playback that track while in recording, then recording will pause until unit finds out next marked track and recording begins again.
Hope these info will help you.
Thanks.

Do not use Synchro recording either normal or high speed to record tracks of your choice.
Synchro recording put unit into direct copy mode and unit record all tracks of cd in same order.

Yes, to reduce time delay, press play and pause Deck-A, then press Record on Deck-B and press Pause again on Deck-B to start playback where as Deck-B starts recording almost same time.
    Hope this will help you.
    Thanks.

One thing I want to clear, at least 2 seconds gap will come between tracks that is unavoidable because of digital information that separates sound tracks.

According to this manual, it only will download MP3s to your model. It won't recognize the device for other music transfer. http://bssc.sel.sony.com/BroadcastandBusiness/docs/manuals/macv20manual.pdf Seems a rather major limitation, but that's it. Sorry to give you bad news.

Bounced trks 3&4 to 7&8 clicked on wav file button canceled says out of capacity

You have a memory problem. If you are using a flash card for memory or a CD drive or perhaps you have configured an external drive, you need to free up some space. Try deleting tracks or songs you don't need anymore.

Each song is independent on a CompactFlash
without affecting other songs. You can give a desired song name for managing recorded songs
(see pages 23 and 91).
Recorded track data is stored in a song as mono WAV files.
The MR-8mkII can convert the two WAV files recorded on tracks 7 and 8 (L and R) to a stereo
WAV file (see page 115).
You can export the converted stereo WAV file to your USB-connected personal computer, and
use the file by a music software application or make an original audio CD on the computer using
a CD burn software application. You can also burn an audio CD by using an external CD-R/RW
drive connected via the [USB HOST] port of the MR-8mkII (see page 115 and 123)

Is there a good tutorial avail? I lost all my music trying to create a cd without finalizing or mastering!!!! Panic took over and i rushed to undo without fully understanding what i did exactly. No...

You can download a manual from the tascam site for this model. as long as you pre-named your songs, they should show in the menu without mastering. You cannot burn any songs without mastering your songs first, however. They will not appear in the create cd section for this very reason.
Record, master,burn.

I recorded about an hour of music from records. set cd track markers. wondering how to track the project so each song is a different track, when recorded to a cd. right now it's one long track.

Hi rudempis,

I not familiar with Sony's ACID Music Studio, but think it should have some of the same standard features other music studios have.

You should be able to load the long track that you have and see the graphic representation of the music. Slowly scroll to the right until you see an almost flat line, this will be the pause between songs. Once you find the pause, cut out that section and save it as an individual song. Do this with each song. When your done you should be able to burn all the songs to CD with no problems.

Hope this helps

Why am I getting so many tracks when I record a meeting, we use a sony cd recorder

Unless you select Manual Track assignment the CD Recorder will assign a new track number whenever it senses extended silence (or what passes for it, sufficiently low input), typically 4 seconds.

Conversation would contain many instances that qualify as a new track.

WILLNOT REPLY DISC THAT IDRECORDED ONTHIS PRODUCT

I feel for you. I've had the same thing happen with my own CR recordings and I can't imagine why the creating unit has problems while others do not. On the CD's I have trouble with there is usually some unevennesss in the reflective surface after recording rather than a nice uniform appearance. I'm betting that means something like uneven tracking while laying the data down.

Bite the bullet and rerecord the CD or try this - use a CD copy application on your PC. I use Sonic. The copying process can spend more time recovering errors than normal playback allows. Or try file copying. One function or the other might get back most if not all of your music.
