I recently bought a TruTech DVD player (Model 008 06 0950). It's a $30. machine, made in Feb., 2008.
Apparently, I touched the wrong button which seems to have enterred a
system of menus in which the on-screen display was changed. Not only
am I unable to play a DVD now, but the screen appears fuzzy, with some
wavy distortion. (I know that I am stuck in the menu section of the
unit because I
am sometimes able to see that there are a few words that appear to be a
menu screen for DVD player settings.)
TruTech Customer Service tells me (on the phone) that I probably need
to change the setting to NTSC. (Actually, I think I may need to change
the "display size", or both the TV Type and the display size.)
In any case, I cannot see ANY screens nor any DVD that I put into the
player - I have not seen the opening screen with the TruTech logo
since this problem appeared. I have NEVER deliberately gone to any of
the on-screen menus so I have NEVER seen any of the menus that I need
to access in order to change the settings. I will need to change the
settings in order to be able to see those menus, or to be able to exit
those menus and watch DVDs again.
I have tried pushing arrow and enter buttons to try to change the
settings or to access a different screen. In this process, I have
sometimes changed the screen so that it shows some wavy distorted words
on some screens, such as "audio" and "DVD".
I need pictures of the menu screens so that I can begin to figure out
what screens I am on and what the potential functions are. I also need
someone to explain to me exactly what on the screen is interactive and
which buttons I need to push to navigate, first from screen to screen,
and then on a screen, and then when to press "enter" to make a change
in the display.
