Question about Dell Inspiron 530s Desktop Computer

1 Answer

Have a Dell Inspiron 530 Vista with a Sys7 upgrade in, will go into safe mode only. It starts to boot up, shows the initial windows logo and motion then after about 10 seconds it goes black and goes no further in the booting. I did a system restore twice back to a week ago now to no avail. Still will not boot up completely, still only boots to SAFE mode. Any Ideas?? I though that it might be a video problem but do not know where to check that.

Yes it was a Video driver problem. Booted in minimal video resolution,.. deactivated a video driver for a hardware graphics card that was NOT installed in the machine. Reverted to Legacy driver,.. updated windows,.. set a restore point and rebooted successfully!!

Sounds like driver probs to me also, have you downloaded all your relevant drivers from dell, or the chipset manufacturer.
Use PC wizard or CPUID to check your chipsets

Cannot get into safe mode dell inspiron 5720

Try booting from your OS (operating system software) CD,i.e. Windows XP, Vista or 7. If that works then you will need to to reload OS.

My dell inspiron 1454 keeps looping on the boot up screen, then just goes back to the windows has filed to start screen..

Hi Charlotte,

The video doesn't show what you describe. The video shows that Windows is loading. Try booting in safe mode. Here's how:

Power up the machine. When the Dell logo appears, start tapping the F8 key until the Advanced Boot Options menu appears amd choose "Windows Safe Mode." Once windows starts, backup your data just in case. Then try to determine what it was you did last that may have caused the problem. Then try to start normally.

Hope this helps

I have forgotten my password to my windows vista Dell 530 Inspiron desktop

Lost Windows password:

  • Login as Administrator. Try with no password (load safe mode if you don't see Administrator). Press F8 during boot to access Safe Mode.
  • Login as other user (if other user is available) and manage users. Must be an administrator.
  • Reformat computer.
  • Use 3rd party software to remove password. Like

There is a free boot CD called Hirens. This one command prompt only.

Before it starts fully the computer starts then stops starts then stops again then finally starts and boots correctly

Do you mean powers down and then on agan or boots windows fails and then restarts?

If it's powering down then it usually means you either need a BIOS upgrade so check the DELL website or your computer needs internal cleaning as the dust is causing issues.

If it's restarting from windows then hit f8 repeatedly when you see the windows logo and select safe mode with command prompt at the command prompt type:

sfc /scannow

and hit enter.

Starting problem

Immediately after seeing the Dell logo, keep tapping the 'F8' key,
until you see a "menu" (white text over a black background)
giving "startup" options for Windows XP.

Select "Safe Mode" and see if you can start in that mode.
Then, use "System Restore" to go "back" in time, to the most-recent checkpoint (date/time) where your computer _DID_ work.

Restore to that point, and restart.

My desktop keeps restarting and shows windows update 3 of 3. it does it over and over.

If you have a Windows Vista operating system, try this:
Try a system restore from safe mode or from the repair option VistaDVD. Other then that only solution I have is a workaround. See if youcan access safe mode F8 at the boot screen, select "safe mode withcommand prompt" at the prompt type:- Code: C:windowswinsxspending.xml C:windowswinsxspending.old.xml
C:windowswinsxscleanup.xml -> C:windowswinsxscleanup.old.xmlPress enter after each command, reboot you will still see the config updates however it will quickly dissapear and Windowswill boot normally. I would contact MS about this, for a permanent fix.If no safe mode boot with your vista dvd go past the language setup andselect the repair option Now select command prompt (BTW at the "xsources prompt type C: press enter brings you to C:/>) now run thetwo above commands.

If you find this works you may be able to permanently remove the"Update" go to C:windows software distribution and right click select"delete" windows will recreate a fresh folder at boot.
