Question about Logitech QuickCam Chat Personal Web Camera

Logitech Quickcam Chat - no sound recording!

I just got a webcam for my birthday a couple weeks ago (April 20th, 2008, to be exact). It's a Logitech Quickcam Chat (2006 model, according to the box).

Now, I installed it, had it all set up...and while the video recording seems to work fine, the camera doesn't seem to be picking up any audio whatsoever; even the bundled-in headset doesn't seem to work with it. Any ideas on how to solve this?

If this helps; after checking Device Manager, the webcam is nowhere to be seen under "Sound, video and game controllers" and only shows itself under "Imaging devices".

I did everything you mentioned. Under the Volume Controls, I indeed had to check the boxes to activate Stereo Mix, Mono Mix, Aux, and SPDIF. Everything was maxed and nothing was muted.

However, when I came to the Adjust Audio Settings step, under both the Audio and Voice tabs, the only recording device listed (for both "Voice recording" and "Sound recording") is "NVIDIA(R) nForce(TM) audio". My tests after this were just as unresponsive as I've found them to be before trying your proposed solution; no trace of audio picked up at all.

I have tried all of this and have had no success with this particular webcam. Fortunately, after checking Logitech's warranty, it appears that I am still within the 30-day guarantee, and so...I can just get a refund or another webcam (maybe another Quickcam Chat or some other camera of equal value).

Your prompt and detailed assistance was much appreciated, though, and for that, I thank you.

At the bottom right of your screen, you should see an icon for volume. Right click and select Open Volume Controls. Click Options > Properties > recording and make sure all the boxes are checked. Click OK and make sure all levels are maximum and nothing is muted.
Next, right click the volume icon again, and select Adjust Audio Properties. Go to Audio tab and then Voice tab and select the appropriate recording device from the drop down menu.

By the way, your camera will only show up under Imaging Devices in the Device Manager and not under Sounds,Vidoe and Game controllers.

Hope that helps!

Ok, try a clean install as outlined in my article HERE.

SHOULD THAT NOT WORK, ITS MOST LIKELY THERE IS A DEFECT WITH YOUR CAM AND YOU WILL HAVE TO GET IT REPLACED.

See here about getting an RMA.

Logitech Quickcam Chat - No audio

Try testing it, last time I checked skype has a test section, its hard to find, but its there. You just talk into the mic and skype records it. Then play back.

It is possible the mic isn't working.

Before you consider taking it back, make sure you follow the instructions to the letter.
