Question about Poulan Garden

1 Answer

I have a Poulan 3400 and when I can get it started it won't run with any power. Changed fuel and fuel filter on end of fuel line in tank but still have to "feather it" once it is running and still bogs down once you try to cut any thing. Air filter is clean. Have to keep the choke in the middle position to get it to run at all. Perhaps a carb issue ? How expense to just buy a replacement carb ? Thanks, DB

OEM fuel line gets brittle and cracks, typically passing fragments to carb, which clog filter screen in carb. If in doubt, replace line with "Tygon" available at most dealers. Pvc is not suitable. Cut tube at end at an angle and feed through tank hole with needle-nose/hemostat. You may be able to open carb to clean filter, or it may be better to find repair shop to do it as part of rebuild. Don't know if you can find replacement carb, but carb kit is available, and inexpensive.

My poulan pro bvm210vs blower wouldnt start. Changed fuel lines, fuel filter, and cleaned carb. Now, fuel bulb will only prime when unit is on its side. It then will start, run10 seconds and die

Sounds like you made the Fuel line in the tank too short . OR the stone filter on the fuel line is not able to move about the Fuel tank to follow the fuel

Open fuel tank, pour out fuel on clean flat area (away from any flames or spark sources) then check the 2 plastic hoses inside. One should have a fuel filter on it's end. The plastic these lines are made seams to disintegrate so, filter may not be attached and lines may be broken off. Replace them.

I have a Poulan 14"

Inside the fuel tank, there is a small flexible fuel line with a float (or sinker) attached. The float (or sinker) is supposed to keep the end of the fuel line submerged in the fuel. The float (or sinker) may be detached, or stuck, or it may be saturated and won't float (if it's the floating kind).
Good luck, Al K

The saw is a poulan 3416 ,2 yr old, purchased new. the problem is starts ok 6 primer pushes idles ok then will either die after first cut or as soon as you pull trigger

Run too lean, this is fuel starvation, remove the fuel line from the tank and replace the filter on the end, check the fuel hose from the tank up to the carb for leaking or cracking.

I have a poulan p3314 chainsaw. It has been sitting up for a while. When I started it, I could not get it to run beyond an idle. Every time I squeezed the gas, it quit. Finally, it quit and refused to...

The ful line actualy disloved and the problem is inside the carburtator there is a valve that lets fuel into the fuel bowl and also shuts it off when its full the floats control it so its always opening and closeing that is stuck closed from the melted fuel line you need to clean the entire carburator out the neddle valve may have a rubber tip at the seal point so take care not to damage it ware it makes the seal but its not hard to do anyone with some common sence and a little mechanical abilitly can do them selves

My weed eater featherlite fl20 dies when I give it full throttle and will only barely run when I pump the gas. I changed the plug and filter.

You mentioned you changed the filter. Air or fuel?
I had similar problems with my Echo and found it to be the fuel filter. With a wire clothes hanger hook the fuel lines in the fuel tank and gently pull them out of the opening. There should be a stone looking filter on the end of the line. Replace it. Can be purchased from your local lawn & garden center. Cheap too.

I need info on a Poulan Pro 445 fuel line routing

I'm so confused. This is reported as a Poulan and McCulloch pole saw, which one? Is it a pole saw? That is the only 445 Poulan I can find. It is reported as an electric but has a fuel routing problem.

If it is a Poulan Pro gas pole saw it is here: PP445 Gas Pole Pruner
The fuel system routing is terrible, but it is all there is.
Fuel Routing follows:
Tank to carburetor (hose in tank with filter on free end)
Carburetor to primer (primer draws fuel from the tank through the carb)
Primer to fuel tank (returns any excess fuel to tank when pushed) HTH

Reattaching fuel line to gas tank.

Get a new line the same size and length of the old one. Get the filter out of the tank. If it is as I think, it has a barbed end that goes into the outlet hole. Take your new line, fit it onto the filter end and make sure it is all the way on. Take the other end of the line and cut a taper on the end. Thread the end through the tank, into the outlet hole and aissist it so your filter sticks through the tank hole. There was a ring on the outside of the tank, on the line. Take that ring and run the ring over the end of the tube up to the filter bottom. Make sure it goes all the way up to the bottom, and tight.Square off the end and slip it onto the carb...Good luck...Lee

I have inheirited a Poulan counter vibe 3400 it

Go to m-and-d.com then parts diagram then illustrated parts online then parts look up then select oem poulan then poulan then saw then look at list of models you will find 3400. Have worked on one or two of the 3400 and they seem to be a fairly good saw for home use.
