Question about Kitchen Ranges

I have a whirlpool ice machine model EC5100XT1 and have recharged it and then it did not make ice anymore, what happened? It is a selenoid problem? Also, at what level should the water before it makes ice?

this is an ice machine, not ice maker. It was recharged and then it did fill, but I didn't know the water level to which it should operate. I waited for the ice to dump, but did not make ice.

  1. Unplug the refrigerator.
  2. Remove the icemaker's front cover by unscrewing or prying it off as needed (refer to the owner's manual for specifics).
  3. Remove the ice bin, shelves, and vertical partition.
  4. Remove remaining screws, disconnect the icemaker wires from the harness connector or socket, and remove the unit from the freezer.
  5. Remove the back access panel (see Fixing a Refrigerator) and any fasteners that hold the inlet valve to the refrigerator.
Service the water inlet valve:
  1. Turn off the water supply at the saddle valve on the pipe.
  2. Disconnect the inlet valve from the refrigerator (see above).
  3. Unscrew the tubes from the valve, letting excess water drain into a bowl.
  4. Unplug the wires from the valve.
  5. Use a multimeter on RX10 (resistance times 10) to probe both terminals on the valve solenoid. An infinite reading means the valve solenoid is bad; a reading of 1,000 ohms or less means it is probably good.
  6. Remove the plate and filter screen from the water inlet. Wash a clogged screen with a toothbrush under running water. Replace the screen if it is rusted or damaged.

Hi,

If you have the type of ice maker that has an ice bin on the freezer door, then there are instructions available at www.AnyoneCanFixIt.com to fix the ice maker problem. They also sell the part that is sometimes required to repair this common problem on the ice maker. The problem is notorious on these refrigerators that were made around 2004 and later. The ice maker will usually go out within 1-2 years. They have redesigned a part to eliminate the problem.

Please post your feedback and Vote if the problem resolved as per your satisfaction.

What is causing ice build up on the coil bottom left? Whirlpool model AD50GEUSW dehumidifier?

Ice buildup is most often caused by low freon. Is the unit 10 years old or more? Might need a recharge. Turn it off and let it thaw then back on. If it ices up again, it likely needs a recharge.

How do I know if the freon needs to be replaced on my whirlpool freezer

You will need to replace the "bi-metal thermostat" in the freezer. Here is the part to order. It also has a video to show you how to make the repair.

Ice maker not working on a samsung rf265aabp. water to selenoid no power to selenoid.

You won't have power to the solenoid till the ice maker dumps ice and sends signal requesting water. It only last for about 7 seconds.
Try swapping the wires on the dual water inlet valve. Then try the water dispenser. The water should go to the ice maker. This will tell you weather or not the ice maker valve is working and if the line is clear.

The water inlet valve on the back of unit opens when the ice maker needs water. If the valve doesn't seal good because of sediment or wear it will continue to drip and when the water reaches the ice maker supply tube it will freeze. You can take the water line off the valve and watch to see if it drips.

Replace selenoid and water is still not going to ice maker

Did you pour about 2/3 cup of water into the icemaker and did it dump ? If you did pour water into the icemaker , and it did not dump the cubes , then the icemaker is bad . If it did dump , so you replaced the water valve , then the fill tube directly at the icemaker is frozen with ice . It will need to be removed ( fill tube at icemaker ) and the ice cleared out by hot water . On some models , behind the refrig , 2 screws hold the fill tube in place . Remove the tube , and clear the ice . When reinstalling , have someone guide it from inside the freezer , to where it mounts on the icemaker fill cup .

My whirlpool refrigerator water works fine but it wont make ice anymore what can i do? model # ed2fhaxst05 or o5

It would suggest a possible refrigerant charge problem, it has a constant load unless water pipework impaired i some way? so i would have the charge checked to see if its leaked slightly.

Fridgerator part is not cooling anymore

You may need a recharge. check the condenser to see if its cold to the touch. if the condenser has pressure and is kinda cold, the charges is fine but, if its warm, you should recharge the unit.

Front load washer fills up with water

Jamesbestor,

The water fill selenoid had junk in it holding the valve open or the seat in the valve is damaged.
Turn off the power and water, remove two screws on the back of the machine and remove the lid.
On the back left top corner are the water fill selenoids. Remove these and disassemble by undoing the 6 or 8 screws ( depending upon model ) holding the unit together. Clean and reassemble, it should take care of the problem. If not, replace the selenoid.
