Question about Weber Q Grill

1 Answer

My Weber Q grill worked great for 5 years but now it won't light on one corner and I can't get a high flame on any part of the burner. Even on "high" the flames are small & blue and the heat level is low. Would like some advice on what is wrong & how to fix it. Thanks!

James, the problem is that the grill's regulator is partially locked up or you are low on gas. Check the gas level firs. If that checks out OK, do the following.

1. Turn the gas tank valve OFF and disconnect the hose from the tank.

2. Wait 5 minutes and reconnect the hose to the tank.

3. Open the tank valve VERY, VERY SLOWLY (Slow motion, slow).

4. Once the tank valve is fully open, light the burner farthest from the tank first and set the burner
control knob on HIGH. Does the flame height look correct for being set on HIGH? If so, light
the remaining burners the same way. Do all the burner flames look correct? If so, you solved
the problem. Remember, to always open the tank valve Very, Very Slowly.

If that didn't solve the problem, you will need to replace the grill's Hose/Regulator Assembly. It runs about $30.00 at any home center or hardware store that sells grills & accessories. If you replace it, turn the tank valve ON Very, Very Slowly.

Hope this helped you to troubleshoot and solve the problem. Happy Grilling!!

When I try to light my brand new Q300, it won't ignite. I can hear that the tank is on and gas is being sent to the grill. However, it doesn't light. When I shut the grill off and the gas tank...

What you have is delayed ignition. It's being caused by the gas regulator. It is solvable, though.

Turn the gas tank valve OFF and disconnect the hose from the tank.

Wait 5 minutes and reconnect the hose to the tank.

Open the tank valve VERY, VERY SLOWLY (Slow motion, slow).

Once the valve is fully open, light 1 burner and turn it to HIGH. Did the burner light and does th eflame height look correct? If so, light the remaining burner the identical same way. Now, to both flame heights look correct? If so, you solved the problem. Remember to always open the tank valve Very, Very Slowly. And always light the burners with the Lid/Hood Open.

If the above did not solve the problem, you will need to replace the Hose/Regulator Assembly. Since your grill is brand new, the Hose/Regulator Assembly will be covered under Warranty. Have your Proof of Purchase handy and call Weber 1-800-446-1071. Also, if you haven't done so already, register your grill before calling http://help.weber.com/register/ even if you don't need a new Hose/Regulator Assembly.

Hope this helped you troubleshoot & solve the problem.

Weber grill has been performing inconsistently. It does not heat up above 250 degrees and frequently the flames go out. It's a Genisis B two burner grill

To solve this problem, first be sure you have adequate gas in the tank. If that checks out OK, do the following:

Happy Grilling.

I have a Weber gas grill, and I just replaced the propane tank, yet when I ignite it on the Start/High setting, very little flame is produced. This is the first time in 5 years or so that I've...

Don't worry, you'll be grilling in no time, if you follow these instructions:

1. Turn the gas tank valve OFF.

2. Disconnect the grill's hose from the propane tank and wait 5 minutes.

3. Reconnect the hose to the tank and open the tank's gas valve VERY, VERY SLOWLY (Slow Motion, slow).

Once the valve is fully open light one burner and turn it to HIGH. Has the flame height returned to normal? If so, light the remaining burner and turn it to HIGH. Do both flame heights look normal?
If so, you solve the problem! Remember to always turn the tank valve ON Very, Very Slowly.

Hope this helped you. Please let me know and Happy Grilling!!

The crossover tube won't ignite past the first few inches from the front element. I have tapped it to clear it, cleared teh little side holes and even ran a wire through it (as a few of the...

If the cross over tube burner has rusted to the point of collapse is a pretty good indicator that it needs to be replaced. I personally, don't see in correlation between LP tank and the collapse of the crossover tube burner. A weak tank, as you called it, would not have any bearing to it.

Now, if you're match lighting the other burners and the flame height remains low, even when turned to high. That's a problem with the grills regulator, which can easily be solved.

Turn the Tank Valve OFF and disconnect the hose from the tank. Wait 5 minutes and reconnect the hose to the tank. Open the tank valve VERY, VERY Slowly (Slow motion, slow), until the valve is fully open. Light the burner farthest from the tank first and turn the burner to HIGH. If the flame height now, looks correct, light the remaining burners the same way. If all the flame heights have returned to normal, you solved that problem.

if it didn't solve the problem, you need to replace the grill's hose/regulator assembly and the crossover tube. The hose/regulator assembly can be purchased at any home center or hardware store, that sells gas grills and accessories. Tank the old one with you for comparison purposes. The Crossover Burner can be purchased from Weber or Factory Appliance Parts http://www.appliancefactoryparts.com/

Hope this aids you in troubleshooting and solving the problem. Please let me know. Thanks and Happy Grilling!!

Grill won't heat up above 200 DEGREES with a nearly full tank

Try replacing the regulator and hose, not very expensive and fairly easy to do. If that doesn't help, let me know.

Two burners run too hot with yellow flame.

Hello,
It sound like your back burners have a partial blockage or possibly are rusting or falling apart or have cracked seams. Remove the cooking grids and burner shields, and examine the burners closely. If you can't find a blockage inside (spider web, bugs nest, etc) then their condition is probably deteriorating. Let us know if you need more assistance.

Cannot get good flame on the burner of my baby weber grill. I've tried cleaning it checked hose, tank, regulator, seems to have good flow, but low flame only, even when set in high????????

I had this problem with a brand new grill so it wasn't grease in the hose. Due to the new propane regulators you have to turn the propane tank on for at least a minute before turning the grill to light. Let the tank sit in the light position for five seconds and then you light the grill. This will keep air from getting into the intake hose and will keep your gas flame roaring high.

I was only able to get the grill up to 250 degrees before I found this fix posted on the Weber site. It is listed as the number one solution in the FAQ section.
