Question about Vacuums

1 Answer

This was my grandmothers machine and when she passed there was no owners manual so I am not sure how to use the settings on it or oil it properly. I so want to use it cause it was hers but don't want to mess up the machine. She never even got a chance to use it before she passed away. I just have no owners manual. I know how to use sewing machines but this one is older and I don't want to mess it up. this was passed down to me. and a manual would help in so many ways. even if it was sent in a PDF format I could save it to my computer so it would never be lost.

Were can i download a sewing machine manual

Companies do not want an unauthorized person person working on their products. Even oiling must be done with finesse and with the proper oil. I would try a local businessman who services these products. Not knowing the brand, I can't make further recommendations, but I got an out-of-print owners manual for my car last year by going to Freecycle, a no sale Yahoo trading group.

In my Singer Sewing Machine model 1014 the Needle Won't Pick Up Bobbin Thread. Could you please help. Thanks

There could be several things causing this.
First, be sure the bobbin is in the bobbin case correctly. There is usually a line diagram showing the correct placement or you can check the owner's manual.
Second, make sure your needle is inserted correctly. If it is not completely set in the housing, this can prevent the bobbin thread from being caught by the hook. The groove in the needle should be ffacing toward you to assure that the thread interacts with the hook.
Third, be certain the upper threading is correct...passing through all thread guides and correctly through tension and take up lever.
Finally, make sure the bobbin case is free of lint. The machine brush that came with the machine will clean this area well.
I hope one of these suggestions helps you solve your problem. If so, please come back to Fixya and rate my advice!

I have the brother Ls-2000 sewing machine i threaded the top as well as the bobbin but when i try to sew the thread gets stuck and it bunches up and tangles in the bobbin. also the little bit that did sew...

adjust your tension. You probably did not wind your bobbin properly as well.Make sure you oil your machine every month or so and make sure your bobbin is seated properly before you sew.
Go slower with the pressure foot speed and use the right needle.ALWAYS test on scrap of your sewing material first!!!

I have this machine for like 2 years and can do 2-5oz cowhide and buffalo leather on it (no joke, and it works FLAWLESSLY) inside it has full steel construction, just needs regular oiling compared to pro machines and easily made a few grand $$$ with it while my pro machine is getting repaired (I don't even bother with my pro machine anymore) But you MUST oil it every month and use the RIGHT needle and adjust your tension properly
Also pull out the thread a good 6 inches from the needle and bobbin before dropping the pressure foot and sewing.
Best $70 bucks (WITH TAX) I spent hell, the leather I use costs more than the machine!

I received this vacuum as a gift. The person set it up for me. However from the time I received it just did not pick up any dust. Now I see online that it got really good reviews. I'm convinced that it was...

That should be a direct link to the owners manual, however there are no instructions on how to assemble. It should be pretty easy tho. On this model the only thing that you had to do was insert 2 or 3 screws into the handle to assemble.

Something to check tho is the top filter on the front. Sometimes the clear plastic casing comes apart from the yellow coloured housing and you will loose your suction there.

another spot to check is the dust cup itself. Make sure that the cup is in the proper place, and has the yellow cap or lid on the cup there. That too will cause a loss of suction.

The hose should have great suction if both of those are ok. If it is not picking up off the floor, the hose should be in the correct spot on the back to connect to the hose that continues down and under the machine.

the final possibility is that maybe the belt needs to be replaced. I know it is not that old, but belts can be old and stale even from the store shelf. A belt should be replaced once a year under normal use, and twice a year for my pet lovers.

Good luck and let me know how it goes.

I'm lookinf for a owners manual for a 70th anniversary Filter Queen Majestic canister vaccuum. My sister in laws mother died and I bought it from her but she can find the manual.

Hi There,

Here's a link to the owners manual for your Filter Queen Majestic:

http://www.filterqueen.com/pdf/majestic.pdf

This may be a little newer model, however this instructions and use of this machine will be identical to the one that you have. They really have changed anything on their machines other then the looks of them for a decades.

Hope this helped! Please be sure to rate my repair helpful, or leave feedback if this answered your questions.

Below is a link to GoodVac.com. They have a Kirby G6 Manual for $9.30. Although it is labeled for the G6, it is applicable to models G3 through the Sentria. ("G" = Generation)

Also on this page is a weblink to their "Online Kirby Vacuum Manual". It will explain how to replace the roller brush belt.
