I cant inform about the exact size of the watch glass by the model or number of the case. For that you need to use micrometer to measure the thickness and diameter of glass. Most sommon thickness is 1mm. If the glass is broke, measure the thickness of any broken leftover and then the diameter by puting the calliper arms into watches groove for glass.

Girl broke face when replacing battery. Can't find EXACT replacement watch. So, where, how much and how long to replace crystal face?

It does greatly depend on the shape of the crystal. If it is an unusual shape, this would need a very skilled person to shape it correctly. If it is a regular round shape, these are easier to come by. This UK web site [link in blue] offers watch parts including crystals to give you an idea on prices. I use a vernier to measure the diameter and thickness of the crystal I wish to replace and UV activated glue to fix the replacement crystal in place and one of those UV nail lamps to cure the glue. This should be done in a clean environment and I use finger cots to prevent fingerprints. The whole process takes about 30 to 60 minutes. Any _competant_ watch repair place should be able to help you. At least you know the process now :)

Fix broken glass my self?

Crystal can be found on ebay and it's not easy to replace a crystal since you will need several tools so better to leave to watchmaker.

How can I changw the glass for this watch?

In order to replace the crystal on your watch you are going to have to remove the entire movement and use a watch press to remove the crystal.
this is not an easy job and should be done by a professional
First you will need to get a watch back opener to unscrew the back of your Tag. The three slots should fit into the back of the watch. tighten the opener until it is firmly on. then turn counter close wise until back of case comes off.
Next you will need to remove the watch hand and crown. Becareful doing this for pressing to hard will break your set leveler. You will need a thin pin pusher and look on the back of the movement for an arrow pointing toward a hole in the movement. Push down and at the same time pull the stem and crown out of movement. turn the watch right side up and the watch movement should fall out. Place movement on a very safe spot so not to damage movement or dial
now you will you be ready to remove crystal Since it is a friction crystal you will need to do use a watch case press . find two die that fit exactly the watch and crystal use a scooped side and place it on the bottom side of the watch press. Next use a flat die to place on top of the case press. place the watch face down. you will be pushing the watch crystal out from the top. Press down on the level and check to see if the crystal came loose, keep doing so till the crystal comes out.
finally you will need to measure the thickness and diameter of the crystal and find the exact size. I believe this watch has a sapphire crystal so you will need a sapphire crystal too.
Once you buy the proper crystal it is time to put the it in the watch. Place the watch face up in your watch press. and slip the crystal in through the top making sure its perfectly even all around. Slowly push down on the leveler until proper pressure is applied and the crystal snaps in.
Now you have new crystal . Clean crystal thoroughly and the inside of the case. Place watch upside down carefully place movement back in. slide spacer in . Now slide watch stem and crown back in push down again on the set leveler with pin pusher.
Place case cover on back and tighten properly to prevent water or moisture from entering and you are done.
This repair should be done by a professional especially on such a nice watch. Any watchmaker can do this job and will have the tools to do it properly

Any decent jewelry store can replace the crystal unless it is a very unique watch in which case they may have to order the crystal.

Hi, My wife skagen watch crystal was broken when I took it to a battery replacement place. I have search on skagen to purchase only the crystal without having to send the watch to the US. Is there any...

I have had to replace more glasses in this watch than any other brand over the last two years - It is most definitely a design flaw. The truth is though that you will not need a genuine skagen part. Your local watch repair shop will be able to use a standard 1mm thick domed Mineral Glass manufactured by Sternkreuz for example. It should be fitted by a qualified watch repairer, but you should not need to send it to Skagen. Good luck

The crystal is scratched, can I fix that myself?

Thanks for contacting FIxYa.
  • Use a jeweler's loupe to identify all scratches on the watch crystal. You do not have to remove the watch crystal from the watch.
  • Use a polishing cloth to remove dirt, grit, lint or any debris on the watch crystal. Squeeze a small amount of standard toothpaste with abrasive properties onto the watch crystal. Gently brush the toothpaste into the crystal for five minutes. Wipe clean the watch crystal. and repeat another five minutes.
  • Use the jeweler's loupe to inspect your progress. Repeat application if necessary. Apply Brasso polish once the watch crystal is wiped clean. This will polish the crystal to a clear, bright shine.
  • Apply Autosol or Polywatch to the watch crystal in the same manner as toothpaste if you prefer to use a product specifically designed for watch crystals. These products will provide the same results as toothpaste. You may also apply Cerium Oxide, a glass scratch remover used specifically in the window manufacturing industry.
  • Apply a small amount of 3-micron diamond paste using your finger or a Kleenex if removing scratches from a sapphire crystal. Rub the paste in for about five minutes. Remove paste with cloth. Buff the sapphire crystal with one-quarter micron buffing diamond paste for finishing.
  • Use a toothpick to remove excess polish and gunk that may accumulate between the crystal and the bezel that secures the crystal in place. Gently work the toothpick around the diameter of the bezel. Wipe the bezel clean with a cloth.
  • Buff the watch crystal with a polishing cloth.

  • OR..take to a local jeweler/watchmaker.
    Best regards. Jewel

    Broken glass and new strap

    Hi Chris,

Skagen watches have very thin domed crystals and they do break. Because of how thin they are it doesn't take a lot of pressure to break the crystal.

Crystals are not something any watch company covers in their warranty.

The crystal can be replaced. Either Skagen can replace them or a qualified watchmaker can. Prices vary and it would depend on how much you are willing to spend as to if it was worth it to you.
