Question about Canon PIXMA MP830 All-In-One InkJet Printer

1 Answer

I'm getting the error message "The type printer head is incorrect" "Install the correct Print Head" I called Canon help yesterday. Took out the print head, turned off the machine, installed everything...printed 3 sheets of paper and got the same error. Any suggestions?

Sounds like the print head contacts are getting loose or are dirty, try cleaning the contact pads, re-seat the unit and try again, to do this gently rub the contacts with a white eraser works good for this job. if this helps you, please provide some thumbs up. cheers.

I did a bit more research on your error A600 here is some of the info that would likely be helpful to you, sorry if its a bit late

Using a dentist-style mirror I found that the pad had got lodged in the black pump (?) unit right at the front of the cleaning assembly. But I managed to remove it and clip it firmly back in place.

I got this error on an Ip4000, it appeared that the print head carriage was stuck and after manually moving the carriage a few times the problem was resolved. I also blew some compressed air around hoping to clear any foriegn objects.

I know this problem- The problem is inside the printer. Turn off the printer and open the replacement ink compartment- move the inks holder far to the left- use a torch to check where the inks holder home and you'll see that there is a sponge a tiny rectangular shape come loose -use the twiter and put back in place (holder). Hope this help

How do I respond to a "the type of print head is incorrect install correct print head" message?

Usually that type of message means either the print head was not a Canon authorized print head or the chip that the unit reads is damaged.

All you can really do is ask for a refund from where it was purchased, or get another one from a Canon authorized retailer.

"Never purchase a reconditioned print head, for exactly this reason" Be aware of "Pirates" who call you, ask you what type of printer or copier you have and as soon as you tell them, they all of a sudden have what you need at a huge discount. Its a rip off.
