My SIM2 Grand Cinema projector no longer powers on. There is a very faint sound when the main power is on, but no fan and no light. Any ideas?

SOURCE: Projector is brand new out of the box. Powers

the number of blinks determine the problem:

Environment Over Temperature- 1 long blink / 1 short blink
DMD Over Temperature- 1 long blink / 2 short blinks
Lamp Over Temperature- 1 long blink / 3 short blinks
Fan1 Locked- 1 long blink / 4 short blinks
Fan2 Locked- 2 long blinks / 2 short blinks
Fan3 Locked- 2 long blinks / 3 short blinks
Fan4 Locked- 2 long blinks / 4 short blinks
DMD Initial Fail- 3 long blinks / 1 short blink
Lamp Initial Fail- 3 long blinks / 2 short blinks
Ballast UART Error- 3 long blinks / 3 short blinks
Temperature Sensor Fail- 3 long blinks / 4 short blinks
Inter Lock Open- 4 long blinks / 1 short blink

any of these will result in lamp off and shutdown.

SOURCE: Projector fails to turn on

check your lamp. if it has bulges, black spots or fogging, replace it. otherwise, its your power supply/ballast.

We have a replacement bulb and I don't have a trap door to remove the old and install the new.

WARNING! Sim2 does does not recommend that you change the lamp, they recommend that you contact a local dealer for service. PROCEED WITH CAUTION!
If you still wish to proceed. This instruction is available at avsforum
http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?p=17983282
There are 2 recessed screws on the bottom near the front of the projector (really deep cavities). There are 2 on the backside of the unit. Remove all those and the top cover comes off. Inside you will see a fan held on by 3 screws (you will know it because there are 4 holes, but only 3 screws...that is normal). Remove those and take that fan module off. The lamp is then accessible.

Good luck! __________________

How do i change the focus without the remote?

There ia always a ring around the lens of all optical devices. If you power on the projector and rotate this ring clock or anti clock wise then you will find that you are able to focus the device to the best of display. Else try the settings manually if there is a provision.

Only power light will power on for few seconds then flashes.

Does the main lamp light at all? It sounds light a cooling fan failure. If the fan iis not working the the main lamp will not turn on and the power light will flash.
