ALWAYS UNPLUG YOUR DRYER BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO DO ANY WORK ON IT.
If you have to check/replace your drum belt and if you have a front loading machine.
Remove the electrical console that holds the timer switch, start switch, etc. from the top of the dryer. Be real careful not to knock any of the wires off of the timer switch or other connections.
Remove the lint filter screws and filter.
Then remove the top of the dryer.
Note: Some of the tops tilt backwards and do not have to be removed completly.
Remove the front of the machine, this will expose the belt and drum, remove the drum and belt and this will expose the drum rollers, idler arm bracket with pulley, and motor with pulley. Pay attention to the route of the belt, this will come in handy when you go to reinstall the belt and drum.
Sometimes the belt will slip off of the idler arm or motor causing the drum not to turn.
While you have the drum out, I would recommend that you lubricate the drum rollers at the shaft of the roller with a good grade of machine oil like 3 in One oil. This will save you a problem later with the rollers getting noisy, also check your drum rollers for flat spots, if they have flat spots on them this will cause a noise like a thumping type noise. You will need to replace the drum rollers if they have flat spots on them.

SOURCE: roper dryer

One of them drum wheels is bad.To get to it: Depending on the type of door the dryer has, is how you approach the access of these dryers. Mostly though you yank out the filter first.Remove the 2 screws in the filter housing on top. Then use a putty knife to pop the top. Remove the screws holding the front panel on. VERY IMPORTANT! Raise the front up an inch before pulling forward or the panel clips will break! Some models have a panel on bottom. If they do then this panel must come off first. Then you remove the door springs and back off the screws holding down the bottom of the door panel. Then pop the top and remove the screws on top to get the panel out of your way. Get the drum out and inspect the wheels.

I have a 9 year old Roper dryer. Went in today to turn it on and the motor sounds like its running, but there doesn't seem to be anything turning and I hear a high pitched squeaking sound. Any thoughts??

The problem is likely the dryer belt . Here is a video Dryer belt replacement video . It may be a different model but the process will be the same. You can also enter in your model # for diagrams and illustrations. Not all models are available. All parts come with installation instructions.

I'm trying to figure out where part #3346 goes on a roper REX5634. Pretty simple right? But I can't find it anywhere and no where looks obvious. help! Pleeez

if your part number is correct it would be the idler pulley tensioner for the drum belt and installs right next to the dryer motor inside the units lower area to keep belt tension on the drum belt

The belt broke drum won't turn

Hello Friend, Replacing a dryer belt is very simple. Just remove front of dryer cabinet. unplug wires from dryer door switch. Just slide a new belt over the drum with the belt grooves facing to the inside. Underneath drum you will see a tention wheel next to motor. Install belt around tention wheel and around motor shaft pully. Re-install front dryer cabinet. Make sure to plug in the wires to the door switch and make sure that the drum is re-inserted back over the felt glide on inner cabinet front. Happy to help, Tim.

Roper dryer not working

If the drum will not rotate, look for a broken belt or even possibly a faulty motor. If it is a belt, it should be relatively cheap to repair and possibly easy for you to aquire the specs on the breakdown of the dryer to access the belt for installation. If the belt isn't broken, then the motor is possibly shot and I am unsure of how much ROPER parts are. Be model number and serial number SPECIFIC when ordering parts, and don't go with the "SUGGESTED MATCH" just to save money if you can avoid it, they aren't always compatible.
