How do i get my computer out of the resolution mode?

Apparently the monitor screen resolution setting is not correct. Screen resolution stays up until it is corrected.

Either the setting is off in Windows, or you have been changing the monitor settings, with the monitor.

WinXP:

Right-click on an empty area of your desktop screen.
Left-click on Properties at the bottom of the list.
Left-click on the Settings tab.
Go down to where it states Screen Resolution.

What is the pixel setting? For example mine states 1600 x 900 pixels.
I am running dual monitors, and this is the correct screen resolution for the Primary monitor.

If it wasn't I would Left-click on the Slider, hold the left mouse button down, and slide the Slider to the correct native resolution.

(Under Screen Resolution is a line. To the left it states - Less
To the right of the line it states - More
The Slider is the rectangular down arrow on the line )

ALSO;
Under the Color quality heading, make sure in the box under it, that it states - Highest (32 bit)
IF not, left-click on the blue down arrow to the right.
Then left-click right on - Highest (32 bit)

How to know what is the native resolution for your monitor?
Look at the manufacturer name, and the model number on the back.
Type this information in your browser search bar, then click on the search icon.

Look for Specifications.

If you changed the screen resolution settings with the monitor, press the Menu button. The screen should go off.

ALSO, with a new monitor there is an Installation CD Disk, provided with it.
This disk MUST be used. It has the drivers for the monitor on it.

[ Drivers: Small pieces of software that allow the Operating System to 'communicate' with a device.

The monitor is a Device.
Windows XP, and Windows 7 are two examples of an O/S.
Operating System ]

How do I increase screen resolution in PC mode running Windows XP Pro?

To change your monitor's resolution

1. Right-click the desktop, and then click Properties.

2. In the Display Properties dialog box, click the Settings tab.

3. Drag the Screen resolution slider to the left to decrease the resolution of your monitor, making text and pictures appear larger. Or drag the Screen resolution slider to the right to increase your monitor's resolution, making text and pictures appear smaller.

4. Click Apply to have the new resolution take effect.

Monitor is fine, but when attached to Acer Aspire M5641 Pc desktop, monitor shows no signal

That is probably due to the resolution set too high for the monitor. Try setting it to a resolution compatible so start at 800 X 600 and work up.
Hope that helps.

I have knocked a button on my laptop the screen has gone small i can not make it bigger i have been into properties but dont know where to go next

Position your Mouse on your Desktop. Just on the background. Right click. Select Properties. Select the 'Settings' Tab. You can select the resolution of "800 x 600" for larger icons or if you want more desktop area move to the right. I am set to "1400 x900"

The other setting you should look for is the Color Quality. Generally this should be largest number. IE 32 bit.

The screen is broken and i need to connect it to a pc monitor in order to get data off but the monitor is saying no signal.... it showed the windows startup but then turns off

most likely, that's because the video resolution or frequency is not set correctly for the "new" monitor.
i am assuming that you are NOT ref'ing to a laptop computer being the one you need data from...
your best bet will be to begin tapping the "F8" key prior to seeing the windows load screen. you should see the "ACER" screen first then it will normally transition to the windows loading screen. when you see the ACER screen, start tapping the "F8" key approximately once per second (if you tap too rapidly, you will get a keyboard error... in which case, just reboot the computer.). once the "F8" stroke is successful, you should get a list of options. one of the options should say "Safe Mode" and "Safe Mode with Networking". using your arrow keys, select one of them and press enter. hopefully, being in safe mode will allow your "new" monitor to display the default frequency and resolution.

Acer x213W - setting the resolution

Sorry about the delay. I also just purchased an Acer x213w and had some trouble setting up my computer in order to achieve the optimum resolution of 1680x1050.

I'm using an HP Pavilion m7170n, so it's a bit old and thus could not support this widescreen resolution. However, my computer comes with an ATI Radeon graphics card and, upon contacting HP Support, was allowed to download ATI's "Catalyst Control Centre". After installation, these drivers added the option of selecting a screen resolution of 1680x1050 from Desktop properties.

So this is my solution to you: simply google your graphics card along with 1680x1050 driver and hopefully you'll be able to download a driver update which does the same for you as it did for me.
