If the 900 error occurs only when the printer is receiving information from a network or computer, you should first contact your local helpdesk or your software/network support. This is because a communication issue with your network or software is indicated. If the error occurs when the printer is idle or not connected to the network or PC, however, there may be a printer hardware or connection problem. Sometimes a bad connection with an Internal Network Adapter/Network Card can cause the issue. The first thing to check is the base printer.

Troubleshooting: Testing the Printer Hardware

Perform the following steps to determine if a service call is required:

1 If the device is currently displaying a 900 Firmware Error, power off the printer/MFP. Leave it powered off for 30 seconds or more to clear its memory.

IMPORTANT! Do not power the printer off and on too quickly. Doing so can cause a power issue and create this type of issue.
2 While the printer/MFP is off, clear any pending print jobs from the computer or the network queue. This will prevent any corrupted print jobs from being re-sent to the printer/MFP when it is powered back on.
3 Power on the printer/MFP again.

Did the error message return?

Yes: Continue to Step 3 or go to Contacting Lexmark.
No: If the 900 error does not appear on the printer screen, use the printer operator panel to print a menu settings page. Click here for directions.

NOTE: If you have already tried powering the printer off and on, skip ahead to Step 4.
4 Power the printer/MFP off and disconnect all communication cables (i.e., the parallel, Ethernet, and USB cables). The only cable that should be connected to the printer at this time is the power cord. There might be a problem with either the printer, a communication cable, or the print job itself. Follow the directions below to check each of these possible causes.
5 If possible, connect the printer's power cord directly into a grounded wall outlet.
Did the error message return?

Yes: Continue to Step 6 or go to Contacting Lexmark.
No: If the 900 error does not appear on the printer screen, use the printer operator panel to print a menu settings page. Click here for directions.

NOTE: This step is especially important if the 900.00 errors occur intermittently. Power strips, surge protectors, extension cords and uninterrupted power supplies (UPS) can trigger a false 900.00 error. This is true even if the printer has worked on this surge device previously.
6 If the error appears every time you power on the printer/MFP, regardless of whether you send a print job or not, the likely source of the problem is a part on the printer. There is probably an issue with either the printer/MFP or an option installed on the printer/MFP. Power off the printer/MFP again and remove any installed options from the printer/MFP. This would include an optional paper tray, any extra memory, and any optional network cards.
7 Power on the printer/MFP again.
Did the error message return?

Yes: A service call may be required. Please contact Lexmark Technical Support for additional assistance.
No: If the 900 error does not appear on the printer screen, use the printer operator panel to print a menu settings page. Click here for directions.

NOTE: If the 900 error appears only when you send a print job to the printer, the likely source of the problem is the computer, a setting on the printer, or one of the communication cables. 'Testing the Software' needs to be done, which im unable to post due to character limitations.

935 Service Print Error

935 - Mirror Motor unable to reach operating speed.

This error code indicates a problem with the mirror motor in the laser unit, the cable to the engine board cable or engine board itself.
Check the continuity of the mirror motor cable connected to J3 on the engine board.
If incorrect, replace the cable.
The voltage at J3-7 measures approximately +24 V dc.
If incorrect, replace the engine board.
If correct, replace the FRUs in the following order: engine board -> printhead assembly

Or you could try if a power cycle resolves the error (at least temporarily)

What would cause a 900 RIP code on a Lexmark T612?

Go to
Locate the appropriate authorization code for your printer model from the following list and enter it:

Optra S (4059) series printers: 4059engn.
Optra T610, Optra T612, Optra T614, Optra T616 printers: optrateng.
Lexmark T520, Lexmark T522, Lexmark T620, and Lexmark T622 printers: lextengn.
Lexmark T630, Lexmark T632, Lexmark T634 printers: e551416.
Lexmark W812: eng204

We recommend you choose to save the file within a directory on your computer's hard drive.
Once it has been saved, go ahead and run the file. The downloaded files are self-extracting ZIP files. Running this file will create a set of .PJL files and a file entitled Readme.1st. The Readme.1st file also contains directions for sending the file over through a parallel connection.

Invalid engine code

The easiest way to solve this is to work through Lexmark Technical Support.

Their web site may have the correct engine code on their site, but installation of the code can be tricky.

Lexmark Optra 1275sc - 900 Service - Software Error

I have the same problem, but the error only occurs when I try to print a .pdf file (Adobe Reader) using the "Lexmark Optra SC 1275 PS" driver. For some reason the PS driver didn't like .pdf files! My solution was to always print .pdf files using the alternative " Lexmark Optra SC 1275 (MS)" driver, which Lexmark also offers on its website.

I'm on my way to change a bellcrank on a t420, simple answer is, you need to cut the old one off.
Be carful not lose any springs though.
