Question about Cuisinart DGB-500 Coffee Maker

1 Answer

I had a screw and a small part fall out from the left side underneath the holder to the filter basket. I believe i have all the parts i just can't figure out how the spring goes back in. So now the whole door holding the filter basket in place will not stay shut thus no coffee. I am pretty mechanically inclined could i just get instructions from you or an assembly diagram I do not have the money for repairs or a new one and i love this coffee maker. If there is a phone number i can reach you let me know. Thank you

The door auto hinge with spring is a rather tricky to try to explain how to put it back in place. If you notice how the door remains now, then it is posible that the system broke and their is a very small chance that it can be put back together only the hinge. The only way is to buy a new e door complete with spring and hinges then is more easy to put it back together.
However in order to make coffee while the door is broken is to by pass the door safety interlock system that is consider from a micro switch and located behind the plastic side panel which when you close the door is press inand switch on so the machine recoglised that the ddor is in place.
You desasemble the machine and find this limit switch which have two wires conect to it. If you remove them from limit switch and connect them permanetly together then machine can operate even without the door close so you can prepare coffee by temporary secure the door by tape so it can hold the filter and prpepare coffee.
Now you have the time either to replace the hole door and the machine be as before.
Good luck

Filter overflows

Many times the coffee grind clogs the filter and spout. I have had this problem before, and solved it this way. Take a filter and put your measured amount of coffee in side. Fold all sides over to make a small packet. Place another filter in the coffee holder, and place the packet with folded sides underneath in the holder.

This has worked every time for me.

Samsung washer wa5471ab leaks water after washing several loads (underneath, front left corner)

You probably have a clogged filter. It's a pretty easy fix, but can be tough to turn filter cap.

Project will take about a half hour, Tools needed 5/16' or 1/4" nut driver, or socket with extension. Flashlight, door stop or small piece of wood. Low profile tupperware container and a small trash can that can hold water. A bath size towel.

Step one: Remove the panel under the washer door, with a 5/16" or1/4" nut driver or socket driver with extention. There are three screws to remove them cover comes off.
(set screws and cover aside from where your working)

Step two: Locate on the right hand side a round pipe with a "s" looking plug, it is tight but turn counter clockwise with a good bit of pressure and it will slowly loosen up. (Have a low profile tupperware container etc to slide under the pipe to catch the water. It may be good to have a bucket or plastic trash can to dump into as small container fills up. Also a towel to help contain the spills.)

Step three: Once cap is removed, you will see a basket, pull it out and clean it out, You may find a sock, lint, paper or change, something that is causing you troubles in there.

Step Four: Wipe out, and re-assemble. replace basket, screw cap back into place, secure snugly. Then Replace cover, It is helpful to have a small piece of wood, door stop small book to wedge slightly under the panel as you re-install the screws. Also, a flashlight to help you see the holes for alignment is nice.

Good Luck.

How do you replace the license plate light bulbs on a 2002 Cadillac STS?

Hi there,

There are two bulb containers above the license plate light and you just need a small screw driver to press in under the left side of the plastic bulb housing to release the plastic clip. The plastic bulb holder will swing from the right hand side and will then fall out. All you need is a medium size flat head screw driver.

You have to unscrew the housings with a philips screw driver and take the housing out of the hole, by turning it sideways and pulling it out. Then turn out the bulb holder from the back of the housing and pull out the bulb.

Hope this helps...

Cuisinart grind and brew pot - door holding filter pops open during grinding/brewing.

There is a little cover over a spring. The loops of the spring go inside the screw that holds the cover. The spring ends are against the wall and a small pin connected to the button on the side. Keeps the button locked. Cleaning out dried coffee in the are may help and pam spray may keep it from sticking.

I have a grind and brew and can't get the grinding basket out to wash.

Open the reservoir lid. Remove the grinder basket lid by using the recessed area on each side of the lid. Then remove Grinder Basket. Open Filter Basket Door. Remove Filter Basket Cover, Filter Basket and Filter Basket holder. The grinder basket, grinder basket lid, filter basket and filter basket cover can be washed in warm soapy water and rinsed thoroughly, or cleaned in the upper rack of the dishwasher. Dry all parts after every use.

Need schematic to reassemble...

The filter basket is orderable from Cuisinart and costs somewhere in the neighborhood of $5 to $6 - there is no service manual for that particular part of the coffee maker.

Knife Holder and tine adjuster fall off

This problem would be so easy for Kenmore to correct by simply redesigning and replacing these knife holders....but Until such time as Kenmore responsibly reacts, I recommend remounting the holder to the side of the basket at a better angle using your knife with the longest handle as a guide) usng plastic ties such as used as handcuffs and cable ties. (Not pretty, but effective).

I was trying to clean my cuisinart DGB-600 coffee maker. I unscrewed asmall hex screw under the black piece that slides out and a spring popped out. This spring helps keep the filter basket door button...

I think the main problem with this machine is that the grounds fly all over inside when grinding and combine with the steam and hot water and eventually gum up the moving parts. This causes the latch for the filter basket to lose its grip sometimes and the door pops open during the brewing cycle...I was trying to take apart the slides to clean them out and made the mistake of removing the small screw underneath the left slide. Then the spring popped out and it took about an hour to get it back together, very frustrating. I ended up bending one end of the spring into a slight hook with a needle nose pliers so it would catch better on the "nub" that is connected to the side button. The best way I figured out to clean the slides so far is to blast them out with compressed air periodically for preventative maintenance. I use one of those cans normally used to dust off electronics and insert the straw into the slides.

Whirlpool Cabrio "LD" code - followup

Where the front panel and the top of the machine meet, there is a crack. When using a flashlight, you will see 4 items in this crack. 2 are green 2 are black. The black pieces are support studs, ignore them. The green one's are clips that hold the top
to the front. Using a putty knife (easier) or a small flat head screw driver (a bit more difficult) push one of the green clips towards the rear of the machine while lifting on the top (warning they are very stiff). You can wrap the tool in a light cloth to help protect the finish, althought it may make the clips more difficult to remove. Only lift slightly (too far and it will bind on those support studs I told you about) Now press the clip on the other side and lift the top up.(now this is easier if you have a second person to hold up the lid while you work underneath.
You will see your tub from a new perspective. First you will see a plastic ring around the top of the tub. Disconnect the green clamp on the hose towards the left rear using a pair of pliers or channel locks. The ring is held down with clips all of the way around the tub. By pressing down over each clip and pulling the clips slightly forward, you can remove the top ring. The rest is the easiest part. In the center of the basket, there is a small cap. Remove this with a small flat head screwdriver. Remove the bolt (7/16") that is underneath the cap. Now lift the whole basket
out. Small clothing articals may be underneath preventing the unit from draining well.

If your small items get too far (ie, the pump), remove the back panel. On the left hand side you will see a small black hose towards the botom. This connects to the pump. Forign objects can lodge in here keeping it from draining also. If you
disconnect the hoses, have something handy for all of the water to go into (large wet vac is usually the best). Drop the 3 #20 torx screws and the pump will come down and you can remove the obstructions.
