It is a virus definitely. I have a friend who had the exact same
problem with Vista on his Sony Vaio laptop. Lucky for him it was under
warranty, and he was able to get it replaced. It is definitely a virus.
Mozilla doesnt shopup and IE7 having problems connecting to any site.
I recommend that you try this online utility to scan for malware, virus, adware, etc:

generally run my antivirus and Syware remover software on a daily
basis, and thought my system was clean. However, I chanced upon this
site and simply did a scan (its FREE!!) and it found 2 trojans, 3
malware and a host of other stuff. I really recommend you try it..its
FREE after all :)
If that doesnt resolve your issue, I recommend doing a system restore. there is no other way.
