Hi!!

If thermocouple is OK, then your problem is fuel delivery, check fuel supply, if OK, the thermostat unit, it is probably defective.

Good Luck!! Don't forget to rate this post!!

Tip

I have a standing pilot that wont stay lit.

If you have a standing pilot that wont stay lit and you have to keep relighting it, it can only be a couple of things that will do this.
1. Try tighting the thermocouple at the gas valve. (this is a thin copper line that goes from the gas valve and goes to the pilot light.)
2. Make sure that the tip of the thermocouple is in the pilot light flame.
3. Make sure that the thermocouple is clean.

if you have done these and it still doesnt stay lit, buy a new thermocouple.

Swap the two thermocouples to see if problem switches. If it does bad thermocouple on one that does not work. If it is the same somethng is wrong with the gas vave itself. The holding coil leading to that burners thermocouple is most likely bad.

Pilot light wont stay lit on gas logs

If the pilot lite comes on, but will not stay on after it has had enough time to heat the thermocouple, you got a bad or the wrong thermocouple. It does take some time to heat that thermocouple.

Pilot lite won't stay lit

Thermostat flame sensor. Do you see a little rod next to the pilot? That is what tells the main gas valve that the pilot is lit and it is safe to give gas. Easy swap, and you can usually just pick up a generic one.

Water heater pilot light will not stay lit. changed the thermocouple, and still won't stay lit.

Hold the pilot button down for a full minute after it lights, then release. If this does not work then the thermocouple is not adjusted where the flame is heating it or you just have a faulty new thermocouple.

I have a few issues with an old probably dinosaur Coleman Presidential III 7995a-856 Heating unit. I've had 3 different repairmen look at it and they're clueless. The main pilot will light and stay lit...

if the pilot is clean and and strong then this should play on to the thermocouple , i take it you have changed the thermocouple , and the connection is good at the gas valve , then if this going out could be 1, powerunit on gas valve not holding at thermocouple connection

2. Hole in heatexchanger blowing out pilot when blower comes on

I take it the pilot stays on untill fan comes on and keeps going out , I would think about not putting any more money in to this and get new if sounds as the heater has had its day ,

Outdoor patio heater won't stay lit

I'm told by Charmglow that the problem is the Thermocouple. iHowever,it took me several calls to get someone to admit this. They are sending a new thermocoupler. My heater is less than a year old and under warranty--but it's a shame things like this happen.

Originally I was told it could'nt be the thermocoupler as they normally last at least 5 years.

Try it--as it may solve your problem as well.

Burner will not stay lit

Presuming the flame is touching the thermocouple, try putting slightly more pressure on the knob and hold for a few seconds longer. If this doesn't work try going through the same process with the knob removed - if this works you need to put a small piece of packing in the shaft of the knob ( a small piece paper might do). If this fails you need a new thermocouple.
