I have the DXZ585USB (next model down) with very similar problem, While I havent been able to verify for sure, I believe the problem (in my case) has to do with the DRM anti-piracy software (Microsoft Obsession). it can interfer in a number of ways,
one way is if your device that you are connecting to the port is Microsoft (Zune) and the data is MP3
In my case dis abling DRM in my computer and re downloading all music might fix it.

Hi cd5honda96, (cool name!!!)

I feel that the USB port is deffective from the inside. It can only be repaired by an authorised service personel. Don't try to open the unit and tamper anything as it may add to your problems.

IMP. TIP: If the unit is within the warranty period (which is normally 6months to a year for some products), best is to get it replaced. And yes, one more thing, always check anything before you buy it. Especially electronic goods. After all, you are paying and should get your money's worth, isn't it???

All the best o you.

How do i get my clarion vz401 too play dvd videos from my USB

The Clarion VZ401 can only play audio (MP3 or WMA) files from a USB device. This is listed in the manual on both page 33 (USB Operations) and page 46 (Specifications). This unit can't play audio file with DRM and some USB drives may not be compatible with the device. It can play some videos from some IPod/IPhone models with the Clarion CCA-750 adapter. This is a USB to RCA composite stereo audio/video jacks cable. This feature isn't compatible with the Lightning connector or some versions of the iOS operating system. To view any other videos, you need to play them back on a device that can directly connect to the composite RCA audio/video ports (AUX In or AV In).

I hope this helps. The list of compatible IPod and IPhone models is available from Crutchfield on the VZ401 Details tab: http://www.crutchfield.com/S-ix4f1cAUkb9/p_020VZ401/Clarion-VZ401.html . This tab also has a link to the manual; the direct link is http://d2stobyut4u5rx.cloudfront.net/ImageBank/v20150407084800/Manuals/020/020VZ401.PDF .

How do i use the usb pot in my calrion db279usb for my ipod?

the USB port on the clarion should allow you to hook up varios devices and read the data on them.
Unfortunatly the Apple Ipod has proprietary software and this may not allow it to work with the Clarion. To test this try another MP3 player or memory stick with some song files on it preferably one that shows up as a generic USB storage device to Windows and see if it works. If it does and the Apple doesn't then the apple is probably not compatable this way. Fortunatly the clarion does have aux-in which should work with any MP3 player.

Clarion vrx485vd wont play videos from iphone when connected

You need a composite video cable to the Clarion Video input. The usual ipod adapter is for audio only. If you have an AV ipod adapter and you still don't have video, the signal is not strong enough for the clarion to see it and you need a 12volt pre amp. you can find them online starting around 25. Hope this helps

Clarion DXZ385USB will not play from the usb input

It is not compatible. I had the same receiver and mp3 player. according to the Clarion website, an "ERROR 5" is the message for a compatibility problem. You probably got an "ERROR 2"(format problem) when you had the player plugged in and then cycled through the sources(that's how I received the error).

I have since bought an Ipod and the USB input works just fine. Clarion says the deck is MTP compatible, but it will not run a lot of MTP devices. Only Ipods and certain memory sticks. The Creative Zen Vision M is read as an MTP device when it it plugged into anything like a computer, Xbox 360, and the Clarion USB receivers. The Clarion units even attempt to read it as an MPT device, but will not play. It is not an issue with the receiver or the MP3 files. The Creative Vision M is not a compatible device, sorry.

I want to buy a new cd for my car

it depends. There are many options. You can a deck with an ipod connector, USB port, mp3, bluetooth there are so many things now. Generally if you buy a deck with ipod conection it will have mp3 too. Pioneer makes a good deck for ipod and wont kill your pocket book. Clarion makes a great deck with a usb port ipod conector mp3 and all the bells and whistles for around 250. It just depends on what you want. But i would get a pioneer, alpine or clarion. I have had great luck with those.

The best solution is to google Clarion and serial # to deck, also include manual. EXAMPLE: Clarion VRX935VD Manual....And in that manual there will be a wire connection page. It will show you the best possible way to install the deck into your car.

Call your store manager directly for any information you need. Just ask for the store manager. If he or she cannot help then call 1-800-WALMART and ask that your concern be forwarded to the District Manager and you expect a call back. My store manager tells me they will stand for you with the warranty people.
