Question about Refrigerators

1 Answer

KitchenAid KSRS25QDWHO3 Lights work but stopped cooling. Didn't hear a fan or anything so I unplugged it. Two days later, I plugged it back in and it cooled for 24 hours and then stopped again while emitting an acidic smell. What's wrong with it and do I need a new fridge?

From you small description it seems that the problem is electrical one.
Like thermostat control that might stuck and need to be replace.
or relay or capacitor for compressor.
So you need a good technician in your area to identify which one is the problem and replace it .
So you must pay for the specific part and the labour cost and compair of the model of your fridge and replacing cost it worth to fix it.

If the previous posts do not solve the problem, these fridges frequently have failures in the control board. The control board is no-longer-available from Kitchenaid however is can be rebuilt at www.fixyourboard.com. The rebuild comes with a 2 year warranty. The turn around time is a few days. No cooling

A no cooling problem could be anything from no power, to a bad compressor. For us to give you good advice you need to tell us everything the unit is doing. Do you hear the compressor kicking on? Do you have lights in the unit? Did you unplug, let stand for awhile and then plug back in? Is the fans working in the freezer and by the compressor? Anything and everything is important for us to know.

Evap fan stops running/low cooling, Unplug Frig Evap fan runs

Is there anything obstructing the fan area, ice build up ? It is normal for your freezer to get warm if evap fan is not working, it is essential for it to work :) A defrost cycle should kick on a timer or as needed (adaptive) and there should not be excessive frost buildup that it blocks your evap fan. I would have suggested you unplug your refrigerator for about 10 minutes and see if that resets your control board - if not, then you will need service - either replacing motor assembly or a faulty control board.

Stopped cooling

Best to unplug the refrigerator now and let compressor cool. The internal overload will be damaged if power remains on and trying to start. We need to test the compressor and start components before you buy anything, Let me know Sea Breeze

No Cooling

hi there,

sounds like you may have a compressor problem. most compressors have a longer warranty on them, so i would recommend that you contact an authorized service center and have them come and take a look at it.

thanks

Refrigerator buzzing for 10 seconds every 4 or 5 minutes

Buzzing is usually a fan, like one in the freezer, or back bottom - for cooling the freon. The compressor over-heat usually will make a single click (off) and a few minutes later a click (on). If the fan in the freezer stops working well, the freezer will frost up and the fridge section will not be cold enough.
