Air temp in room is 85 degrees. Unit is set for 65 degrees and compressor goes on and off at about 10 minute intervals. Is this a faulty thermostat or what?

If the compressor is running and you are not getting the cold air to blow or the cooling pipes are not cold after a good begining then it is possible that there is low gas pressure.
If so refill gas and check for proper gas pressure.
However if the compressor is shutting down after blowing cold then the pressure limit switch might be faulty and is acting in advance. try to overide to check the running of the comrpessor.
Also if the thermostat is also detecting wrong or is malfunctioning ,the same faults can be seen.
So check in this order and confirm..

Please increase the temp settings and see if the compr runs for longer time. If so the thermostat can be defective but you can set the temp up for the time being for the compr to run. But if not the timer is having the fault.

Please check with some old stores if one can be salvaged of the similar type but only if the higher settings are not acting.

Why when I start my car is there an odor coming from vents that smells like something is burning, and my Air Conditioner still blows, but it only blows out hot air. 2008 Chrysler Sebring. Help?

have an accredited ac shop as an ac cannot produce hot air only cold air so that means that the ac is not working (leaks low on gas etc). The hot air is from the heater in the car and the smell is probably wire overheating or the resistors are burning.

Left Vents blow warm/hot air when calling for cold air

Usually a sign of a faulty blend door under the dash.
The blend doors direct air thru the ac and heater core along with the upper and lower vents.

The air conditioner is blowing hot air, there is no water to drain

I have a 2004 Chevy Tahoe with dual zone air conditioning plus rear air conditioner. My problem is on the 2 driver vents only it keeps going from cool air to hot air. After you drive for a while it is all...

If the truck has a dual zone temperature control in the center console then this is most likely your problem as alot of times when these go bad the think the driver side is too cold and turn the heat on to warm it up thus giving you warm air through the vents on the driver side.

Stand up airconditioner

To your question the answer is YES, generally vented to the outdoors through a window. Generally speaking there are two hose connections for cooling the refrigeration end of the A/C. one should supply cool air from outside and the other should discharge the hot air outside. If not vented to the outdoors your build heat instead of cooling.
