Thanks for using FixYa and I am sorry to hear whatever happened. Error
F 51 flashes when there is a motor rotor position sensor (RPS) failure. Please follow the step by step instructions to resolve this issue: This test checks the wiring to the motor and rotor position sensor; and the motor and rotor position sensor themselves. NOTE: Drain water from tub.

1. See Activation of Manual Diagnostic Test Mode, and check the motor and electrical connections by performing the Agitate and Spin tests under Manual: Motor. The following steps assumes that this step failed.
2. Unplug washer or disconnect power.
3. Check to see if basket will turn freely. If basket turns freely, go to step 4. If basket does not turn freely, determine what is causing the mechanical friction or lock up.
4. Remove the console to access the machine/ motor control assembly.
5. Visually check that the P5 and P10 connectors are inserted all the way into the machine/motor control. If visual checks pass, go to step 6. If visual checks fail, reconnect P5 and P10 and repeat step 1.
6. With an ohmmeter, check for 16 ohms resistance at the P5 connector between pins P5-1 and P5-2, and also between pins P5-1 and P5-3. Also measure the resistance at the P10 connector between pins P10-1 and P10-7 and verify that the resistance is within the range. If the resistance is correct, go to step 11. If the P5 connector resistance is much higher than 16 ohms, or the P10 connector resistance is out of range, go to step 7.
7. Tilt machine forward to access the bottom of the machine and the drive motor area. Remove the motor bolt, then the motor cover to access the motor connections.
8. Visually check the mounting bracket and electrical connections to the motor and rotor position sensor board. If visual check passes, go to step 9. If visual check fails, reconnect the electrical connections, reassemble stator and motor cover and repeat step 1. With an ohmmeter, check for continuity between all pins on the P10 machine/motor control connector and the motor rotor position sensor (RPS) connector. If there is continuity, go to step 11. If there is no continuity, replace the lower machine harness.
10. With an ohmmeter, check for continuity between all pins on the P5 machine/motor control connector and the drive motor connector. If there is continuity, replace the drive motor. If there is no continuity, replace the lower machine harness.
11. The drive motor and lower harness are good. Replace the motor RPS board and perform the Diagnostics test in step 1 to verify repair.
12. If the Diagnostics motor test in step 1 failed, then the machine/motor control has failed: Unplug the washer or disconnect power. Replace the machine/motor control assembly. Perform the Motor Diagnostics in step 1 to verify repair.

Please do rate the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.

What does an error code F51 on a whirlpool cabrio washer mean?

Cabrio F51 Fault (Stored Fault Code F51) The Cabrio's F51 fault code flashes on the washing machine's display when there is a motor rotor position sensor (RPS) failure.
Check for good contact at the control Board and at the RPS. Sometimes disconnecting and reconnecting the RPS plug connection several times will clean off corrosion that may be affecting the contacts.

What does code F51 mean

Code F51 means there is a problem with the Rotor Position Sensor. This could be something as minor as a bad plug connection. However, there have been many cases of socks or other small garments being flung over the top of the tub rim and getting caught between the metal tub and the plastic tub which contains the water. The "errant" clothing keeps the tub from returning to it's original position thus preventing the Position Sensor from aligning.

Its says f51 error

The error means that washer repeatedly quits mid-cycle. Basically, the F51 error is a rotor position sensor error.

What does the F51 code mean ?

What washer do you have? The F51 code is a failure of the RPS sensor at the bottom of the motor on the Kenmore Oasis or Whirlpool Cabrio.

This can occur if you overload the washer or if there are foreign objects under the washer that prevent the motor from turning.

If you set the water level for a small load but put in a large amount of laundry, you can get the error. If the drain hose is incorrectly positioned in the drain, the fill water can get siphoned and cause the error. Make sure that the basket turns freely when you lift the lid. Items stuck between the baskets or a problem with the basket hub can also cause the error.

If the unit isn't overloaded and the basket and motor move freely, you need to find where the circuit is failing. See this URL for details on tracking the fault: . You need to measure the resistance on the cables to the control board from several sensors and the motor itself. These tests will lead you to the parts that need to be replaced. If you aren't sure of your ability to do these diagnostics, call for service.

I hope this helps.

How do I fix a code of f51? what does it mean?

F51 error code is beacause the computer board did not receive input from the motor on the bottom. Unplug the washer, pull the machine forward and tilt the machine back. On the bottom you will see a large white wheel with a silver allen screw in the middle I think it is a 6mm allen wrech that takes it off. Once you remove the screw and drop the white wheel, there will be a large coil of wires with 4 5/16 screws holding it on, remove these scres and drop the coils. On the right hand side you will see a connector with three wires , unplug it. Use sand paper or a scraping tool to clean all 3 male sides of the connectors. Reverse process to re-assemble.

I have a maytag top loading washer. I have a F51 message. I have no clue what that means, can anyone please help?

F51 means you have a rotery positioning sensor error or (RPS sensor) This is clipped onto the top of the stater motor and means you will have to replace the RPS sensor if the tub is spinning smoothly by hand.

Let me know, if needed further assistance.
Hope i helped you.
Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

Won't spin

The F51 error code flashes when there is a rotor position sensor (RPS) failure or lower harness problem. Here are some recommendations you can try to resolve this issue:
First disconnect the electrical power to the washer.
Make sure the basket turns freely. (By the way, make sure you are not overloading the washer. Make sure objects, and or clothing are not getting caught on the rotor underneath the washer jamming the rotor. Make sure you are not using too little water by using the wrong cycle for the type of load.)
Lean the washer back so that you can access the motor from the bottom then remove the rotor (1-bolt), and the stator (4-bolts). Make sure the stator and wiring harness have not been twisted causing the connector to twist at the RPS board creating a bad connection.
See image below for the RPS & harness location.
Unplug the RPS sensor connector and then plug back in 5-6 times to make sure if there is any conformal coating on the pins you cut through it and make good contact. Then tug back on the wires to make sure the connector bites onto the terminal and makes a good connection.
If you still have an F51 error code I would recommend calling a service technician to diagnose & repair.
