Hi, I have also have a Sony Grand Wega. We have it hooked up with the HDMI cable to the HD cable box and it's been fine since last July. We came home from vacation and the picture is fine but there is no sound. It's also hooked up to a Awia receiver and no sound is coming out of the surround sound either (if the receiver is off sound has always come out of the TV speakers). I've gone through both manuals for the cable box and the Sony Wega and everything seems fine. I've checked to make sure a wire didn't fall out and that looks fine. I have a tech from the cable company coming out tomorrow but I'm wondering if it's the TV. I also checked the Audio Menu on the TV and there is no option to switch to HDMI Audio. Could the HDMI wire have gone bad, would that affect the audio only? Do you have any other suggestions I can try before the cable guy comes out???? I'd really appreciate it!

Make sure you have gone into the Audio Settings and changed it to receive HDMI Audio.

Sorry, should have been a little more clear. This differs among the different cable companies, but for TWC, press settings on the cable remote, then additional settings and scroll to Digital Audio, then change the setting to HDMI. I had same issue and this resolved it.

    Hope it helps.

How should I connect a Sony Wega KF-50WE620 to an XBox360 ?

Since the TV accepts HD signals only via DVI and component inputs, the only logical way is to use the "Xbox 360 Component HD AV Cable" as show in the link below:

How to hook up your Xbox 360 or Xbox 360 to TV

The TV will not accept a VGA input. A cable converting HDMI to DVI would also require that you break out the L + R audio channels, too. The one I mentioned above does this all for you with no degradation in video signals.

The provided HDMI female receptacle is being used by the DirecTV hookup. Is there an adapter, from coaxial cable to HDMI (male receptacle)?

HDMI cable has several diferential digital (LVDS) signals that also carry digital audio on them, not compatible with coax!

I own a Sony kdf-55e2000 , when I try to hook up a ps3 through the hdmi imputs i get a message reading "unsupported signal please check device output" i can here the sound but no picture. Is there any

try only having the hdmi cable hooked up to ps3 and tv, turn off ps3 and hold power button for 5 or 10 seconds and you should hear 3 beeps, this should reset the ps3 and detect the settings, if this doesnt work you mmay have to manually change audio and video settings in the ps3 settings menu to hdmi output and auto detect which settings work.

I would like to connect my my hp laptop to my Sony Grand WEGA KDP-57WS550 57 in. Rear Projection HDTV-Ready Television to watch netflix

You need to connect your PC to either your TV or your receiver. Also, if you have XBox, you can watch Netflix through it (thought I'd suggest, just in case).

Take your PC (or take a photo of your available outputs from your PC) and a photo of your available inputs (on your TV or receiver) to Best Buy or similar computer store. They can help you learn which connections you need.

Most likely you'll need a DVI to HDMI cable for video, and maybe a separate audio cable from your headphone connection on your PC to your TV (or receiver). You'll only need a separate cable for audio if your HDMI input on your TV does not support audio.

I am going through this same problem with my TV connecting Apple TV. I am checking now whether my old rear projection tv's HDMI input supports audio (same as yours). I've connected Apple TV to my rear projection TV. I have video, but no sound. Either my TV doesn't support HDMI audio, or I need to change a setting on the TV to enable that sound to work. If the TV does not support HDMI audio, I will need to connect Apple TV directly to my receiver via a digital optical cable for sound.

Hope this helps.

No sound when hooking up DVi to HDMI...

This is normal, when you go from HDMI to DVI, the sound does not get transmitted. You need a separate cable to go from audio output on the computer to Audio input to the TV. There are speaker (headphone on laptop) jack to RCA audio cables, you could also go with digital audio or even optical out if your computer and TV both have the input and outputs.

Sony KF50we60 hdmi-dvi sound cuts when plugging into a ht-sf2300

DVI = HDMI without the audio connectors. So basically you need to connect your audio in some different way, PS3s allow you to keep your video signal as HDMI and change the Audio signal to component, so that is one way or doing it, not sure if the blue ray players allow you to do this though.
