I am battling the same issue with my friends tractor. I just did a rebuild kit and serviced everything and still ahve the same problem. Turns out there is alot of water in the fuel from sitting outside at his house and the gaskets not sealing properly from the factory didn't help. The swirl plate was at least 85% rust and the orings were pretty bad. Next will be the electric fuel solenoid, which controls the idol, if by chance you unplugged it check to make sure it is set the right way or it will idle high in low throttle position.. Hope this helps.

Why does it bog down in grass maybe 6 " high?

The likely cause of this is that the grass is too high for your mowers deck. You should try just mowing about 1/3 of the blade at a time (if you can) until you reach your desired length, so if you grass is 6" high, only take off about 2" at first to reduce the stress on your mower. Set your mower deck to it's highest setting and give it a shot.

Also, be sure that the blades are sharp, and if you don't have mulching blades, you should get some! Grass this high will leave long clippings on the lawn which can suffocate the grass, mulching blades will chop up the clippings into smaller pieces, which is beneficial for your lawn!

Finally, make sure you aren't mowing wet grass. If you mow when the grass is wet the clippings can stick together and clump up under the mowing deck which will cause excess strain to the mower and maybe even cause it to shut off.

If none of this works, you may want to use a string trimmer to remove the first two inches of your grass and then continue mowing as normal!

Hope this helps! Happy Mowing!

Yardman 38" 7160 the deck belt is loose

Have you been mowing high grass, and how long has the belt been on? if you have mowed tall grass or belt is older than 2 years old it needs replaced, most don't realize how much a belt stretches from mowing tall grass. I hope this has been helpful.

The blades stop turning under a heavy load on my Craftsman 42" mower deck. Is there an adjustment that can be made?

"the adjustment" is to slow down in high grass areas. alternatively mow more often so the grass does not get so high between mowings

Husqvarna Lawn Tractor LGT 2654 (from Lowes) B&S Intek V-Twin 725cc 26 gross hp 110 hrs. I had a couple of problems with the 2654 in the past but they were electrical. Now the engine seems to...

A common loss of power problem with B&S V twins is a set of crumpled valve push rods. Means you are running on one cylinder which is generally OK unless you also want to mow. Easy to check, pull one plug wire at a time off. If it continues to run on one cylinder but not the other, that is your dead cylinder. As the intake is not opening, there will not be a wet plug. Costs nothing to check and could be your problem.

Deck will not shed the grass . the grass has to be cleaned after each mowing, lawn is not mowed when wet,

The only way to shred the grass while mowing is to have a pair of mulching blades on your mower, they work, but they wear out fast. They do in Florida anyway with all the sand. And don't for the grass to look a hayfield to mow it. You have to keep at it. Hope this helps.
