error code 6000 is showing on my screen

  • laszlo_26 Oct 27, 2008

I am frequently getting error code 6000, It stops printing mid job and comes up with this problem and I have to turn it off then on again. Starts up with a grinding noise, spits out the unfinished print page and then I have to restart the print job. Getting really annoying and I don't know the solution!!

SOURCE: error code 6000 is showing

I had the same problem and went searching - all the feedback suggested that something may be stuck of blocking the paper path. Took the tray out, checked underneath etc - and yes - the problem was a couple of sheets of paper stuck inside. Was able to retrieve these by accessing them from the rear of the printer - and when plugged back in it started up ok!

I believe the cause here was that a print job was sent to the printer while it was also being used to copy stuff - though i cant be sure of this. Either way, it was a blockage that cased the problem.

Have you checked for paper jamm in the rollers or any other small item like a paper clip? Also are you running this on wired or wireless connection?

unplug the printer, turn it upside down and shake a little. If a tiny piece of paper could be to blame.

Unplug the printer from power cord.Press and hold the "menu" button, then plug the device. You'll see on the LCD screen a "machine error" code.If this code is 40,41 or 4F the print head is defective. If the error is 50 or 51 there is error in Purge unit and printer require service. If the error is 46 the waste ink tank is full.Follow this:
Enter 80, then scroll down with the arrow down (round) key. You'll find an entry listed as purge count. If number
is over 6000, enter 2 7 8 3.This will reset the purge count value. Then restart the printer, hopefully without the
annoying cannot clean message.
