Most possible that you are having the ddreaded dry soldering on the main board.. video drive., convergence.
Remove the rear panel and have a good look prefferably with good ligght and a magnifying glass to check for possible dry joints crested by consistent heat of componentt leads on the board. It will be good to do a solder job on the heating area of hte mainboard , particularly the sections of the IC , use a thin soldering iron with great precaution so as not to bridge the pins. Use a thin needle to clean any suspected joints, PLEASE TAKE CARE NOT TO END UP TAMPERING WITH A BRIDGING OF CIRCUITS, SO TAKE HELP IS NOT COMPETENT.
You might be able to tap softly on the board to confirm of the fault , tighten all connectors and contacts.
Take time to look into and dont rush . Finalise the spot suspected and do the soldering. Use good grade solder and wash off excess solder flux if it has flown out.
Confirm the fault and replace the back panel.

A spent bulb will cause the whole set to go off. If you have not changed the bulb in all of these years, first you are lucky, and second that is probably the cause of your problem.

Picture goes off

A temporary solution is to unplug the TV for a few minutes, remove static from the glass with your hand. It is important to unplug rather than turn off. If you have a degauss button you can also press that before unplugging. Wait several minutes or an hour. Then plug it back in. If you have Picture in Picture it may be an issue with that and to permanently solve may need a repair person. The unplugging may get you by for a few days at a time. That's at least better than an hour.
