Go to following site http://manuals.mtdproducts.com/mtd/public/list.jsp?BrandCode=10051 Then type in model LT1042 and check your serial no. again as I could not get it to come u.

It is probably on the right side in the middle of the engine. It should have a yellow cap on the end of the drain. Take the cape off and slide about a 12" piece of 5/8" x 1/2" clear vinyl tubing (available at Home Depot, Lowe's, etc.) on the end, turn the plastic body to the left (about 1/4") and pull out about a 1/4". Oil will flow. Reverse to shut off.
