Thanks for contacting Fixya Support.

With the Macbook Pro 13" having a Superdrive or Combo optical drive, you are dealing with a slot-loaded drive. As a result, if you have a disc that is loaded into your optical drive, which will not eject, then there isn't a manual way to remove the disc without causing damage to either the optical drive or the disc itself.

In most cases, of a potentially stuck disc in a Apple notebook's optical drive, a visit to your local Apple Retail Store Genius Bar or local Apple-authorized service center would be highly recommended.

With that noted however, here are some troubleshooting steps to try from the Mac OS X side first before having to take that step and visit an Apple service provider:

- CD DVD EJECT -

- - Reboot your Macbook Pro 13"

- - Hold down your Media Eject key on your keyboard pad prior to the Apple Chime starting.

- - Keep holding the Media Eject key down while your Macbook Pro 13" boots up

- - The disc should eject before you reach your Desktop

- - When it does, simply release your Media Eject key.

If that does not work, try this:

-EJECTING DISC USING TERMINAL-

From your Desktop:

* Click anywhere on a blank space on your desktop. Now you should see Finder listed near the Apple menu icon.

* From the Finder menu, click on Go, then Utilities from the

drop-down menu. This will take you to your Utilities folder.

* Locate and open the Terminal application.

* At prompt, type: drutil eject and press the Return key on your keyboard

This command line should eject the disc from the drive, unless there are mechanical issues with the drive.

If neither of these steps work, then I would be remiss as an Apple Certified Tech, if I did not recommend you proceed to take your Macbook Pro 13" in for service.

I hope this helps.

Best Regards,

-Mactechtrainer

How to fix up d5/5 and remove disc

I am not sure about the d5/5 error but you should be able to eject the disc by performing the following, which I took from my user manual.

Turn off the unit. Press and hold the [ >>/>>' ] and [ OPEN/CLOSE ] on the main unit at the same time for about 5 seconds.

Hope that helps.

Hi there, I purchased a Bush lcd/ dvd combi for my daughter 18 months ago.... All of a sudden it is not reading the dvds and automatically ejecting them, any ideas on what the problem is, and how possibly...

Hello
There are two possibilities for this fault. The first one is the spinning problem of disc inside it. If loaded disc does not spins, the mechanism will eject it. The reason for this is damaged sled motor. Sled motor is one which spins the disc inside at high speed. It can be replaced. The second reason is of Laser Pickup Unit itsef. If it does not emit laser beam, the main system circuit will recogonise as there is no disc in the tray, and play function is energised, and will eject the tray out. Check for the first one. This is most comon fault with DVD players. OK.

Cds play but won't eject

Hi.

Try pressing eject repeatedly while you power up the unit. Procedure described here: When a disk is stuck inside the player ..

If that does not work, then the cover must be removed to take out the disk. This must be done with power off. Even if operation is quite simple, there is chance to damage the unit.

Will not eject disk

Hi,

Is your eject button broken? Does it click when you punch it, or goes in like the button on the board is broken?

It is either this or there is something jammed inside your system.

Nakamichi MB-70 CD player - cannot get cd to eject

Having just removed three discs from an identical unit which also jammed, I will say how easy that was. I do not know if the unit will now function when reinstalled in the vehicle.

Remove the unit from its mounts, remove the outer "frame" (if fitted), remove the two #2 phillips pan head screws from the sides holding the face to the chassis, remove the four #0 phillips screws (black, flat head) from the top and bottom of the face plate.

Slide the face plate off and carefully handle it while tethered by its ribbon wire.

Turing the unit upside down, peer into the opening and observe the disc, gently press the carriage away from the top of the unit (now the bottom, as it is inverted) and allow the disc to be freed, simply pull the disc out.

If there are multiple discs stuck inside, oberve the large metal gear just inside, carefully rotate the gear to actuate the loading mechanism as needed to release addtional discs.

Disc stuck in unit

Unplug power cord. Plug back power and keep pressing the eject button repeatedly while the unit starts up. Do this a couple of times, if you succeed in activating the eject before the system starts reading the disk, then it will eject.

If you do not get the disk out in this way, the only alternative is taking the unit apart, and removing disk from inside manually.

Drive fails to eject only without a CD in drive

The carriage unit in the drive is damaged. when a disc is inserted it trips a small lever in the drive, when the disc is removed it fails to engage this lever. You can open up the drive and use plastic weld to fix the broken plastic part, you can replace the drive or use it as is.. The lever is located to the frount of the drive you'll see it broken...
If the disc is stuck inside you can use a paperclip and push it into the small hole in the frount of the drive..

If you got another old drive that you can get the carriage from you can use that as well
