Question about Gaggia Classic Espresso Machine

1 Answer

The thermal fuse in my Gaggia Classic doesn't last more than a month or so. Also, after the machine is turned on for about 30 - 45 minutes, it makes a "roaring" sound and expels all the water from the steam boiler into the overflow tube and the boiler is then dry. Solutions?

Your problem is very simple to be solve.
Just to replace the boiler thermostat.
It seems that it does not stop the element from heating up at the proper temperature but it leave it to overheat that is why you have the probelms described.
Good luck

When I switch on mygaggia classic expresso machine it will not switch on

The thermal fuse in the Gaggia Classic is likely tripped and it is not re-settable. The fuse has the following stamped on it: MICROTEMPSKMAHDG4A00184C I believe that is what is the culprit for all of us when the "power doesn't come on." Now, what is the rating of this fuse and where to get a replacement? The fuse is the small resistor-like, diode-like part in a clear tube mounted against the boiler, and it must be physically cut out of the line to replace it!

Gaggia Classic won't turn on, no light at power switch

I would suspect rough handling of your suitcase, leading to some loose or broken connections inside. I recommend opening it up and looking for obvious disconnections. If you don't see any, the next step will be to use a tool like an electrical continuity tester (which can also test for a blown fuse). There is a lot of information about Gaggia Classic repair online -- just search for "Gaggia Classic repair".

Gaggia classic light not working

You state there is no lights, but does the pump work? If there is not power at all (no pump & no lights) then the problem is most likely the thermal fuse. Radio shack sells these and the barrel clips to attach. Will cost no more than five dollars for everything.

I have a Gaggia classic. It won't turn on,no lights.

Hi
There are 2 things that it might be.
1. There is a high limit thermostat on the left bottom side of the boiler. Somew have a red button in the middle between the wire terminals. Push it it you have the red button.
2. There is a thermal fuse on top of the boiler. it is in a plastic cover that is clamped to the top. If it blows it has to be replaced.

We have no lights, none of switches do anything, fuse in plug is ok

Hi
There is a thermal fuse on top of the boiler that has probably blown. It is a 184c thermal fuse. You can get them from some of the internet sites like ChrisCoffee.com, Wholelattelove.com, or 1st-line.com.

Gaggia classic -no steam from spout

I had almost the exact same thing. The fuse for your frother is out. If both the frother and the brew head won't heat, then it is your Thermal Fuse. There are two different fuses inside the machine. Take the top off, and find both fuses. Take a piece of wire and connect it to each end of the fuse. Now turn the power on. If it heats, then that is the fuse. If no results, try the other fuse. Either fuse should be cheap. My thermal fuse was $1.98. Good luck!

My gaggia titanium doesn't serve hot expresso, only lukewarm.

You have a bad thermal fuse. Do a google search on replacing the thermal fuse in a Gaggia. I fixed mine in 20 minutes for $1.98! Good Luck!

Gaggia Classic - No Heat, Hot Water or Steam

There is a thermostat on the boiler disconnect and check to see if you can get a reading using an ohmsmeter, if no reading replace the thermostat. If you get a good reading then disconnect the element and check for resistance.
