Question about Dell 1700n Laser Printer

1 Answer

I have a Dell Laser printer 1700n that is set up to be on a network that was turned down. I would like to use the printer locally but it thinks its still on the network and i cannot communicate with it via an ethernet cable or USB to tell it that it is now a local printer. Is there a way to restore factory defaults in the printer and if so, will this tell it to be a local printer again?

Disconnect the printer from the computer, unplug the power and start the local install all over again from the directions. The PDF manual can be found HERE.

Make sure that the Ethernet plug is UNPLUGGED before you begin. This should make the printer default to local.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

How to reset the default network settings

Do you know the current settings? If so, log into it and set it up. There should be a setting within the web page to restore to factory defaults. I don't know if this is something that can be done without logging into it.

Hi, first; lets’ start from scratch. Turn off your (Computer), turn off the (Printer), unplug the printer from the power outlet; do not make any changes to the computer. Disconnect (all) the printer cables from the computer; reconnect the cables to the computer, and plug in to power outlet. Turn on the computer (first), turn on the printer. Go to; Control Panel, (Hardware and Sound), click Printer; if the Printer is present; click to open, Properties, click (Drivers): Update Drivers. Restart computer. Thanks paul7of9

DELL Laser printer 1700/1700n

All flashing lights for the Dell 1700 series (1700, 1710, 1720 including those that have n or dn as part of the model) printers is a service related error. When double pressing the continue button twice quickly, the printer will give a secondary error code, narrowing down the printer part being effected. It is possible to even narrow the error code down even futher by double pressing the continue button and taking note of which combination of lights come on, wether they are steady or blinking. Most generally when this series of printers, when you get all flashing lights, something major is going on with the printer. It could be pointing to the fuser, or main board, etc. You can call dell warranty support and they will help narrow down which part is being effected. Most generally, what is being effected is not cost effective to get fixed if you are no longer under warranty.

We had a printer with the same problem, and turning the pickup wheels inside out (on the back of the paper tray) solved the problem.

Hope this helps.

Dell 1700n Laser Printer paper jams

Some questions first: -Where in the paper path is it jamming? -Is it always in the same spot or does it vary? -Roughly how many pages have you printed with this printer? -Did anything lead up to this or has it progressively gotten worse?
