Question about HP Pavilion ze5000 30 GB Hard Drive

1 Answer

My mouse and keyboard freeze up momentarily EXACTLY every three seconds. Re-installing the OS twice didn't help. Wiped HD and installed again still didn't help. Computer is an HP ze5000 laptop.

Need more input to isolate the problem... does this occur when on power... does this occur when not on power... if ur system is old then is there lint settled within ur fan vents... all remaining the same seeing such a precise count i would suggest get the mobo cleaned up and checked for dust and i would conclude that u either need a BIOS update a BIOS reset or a hardware assistance... hardware assistance in any form for laptop would be to replace the MOBO costly!

Occurs on AC power. Don't know about battery since the battery pack won't charge. I doubt it's a fan/overheating problem since it starts immediately upon loading Windows xp before any significant heat has even been generated. I suspect the motherboard also, but wanted to be sure before I scrap this laptop. The BIOS reset sounds interesting...how would I do that?

a BIOS reset i had tried just once and that too on a desktop. There is a big button cell battery in the desktop which had to be removed and then replaced with a thirty minute time gap... this rests the BIOS on a desktop I am assuming something like that must be done for the laptop...

have u tried connecting an external mouse and keyboard do they also get stuck plus if u reply pls let me know the specs of the system u have...including model number, ram, hdd, no years of use, proc and no of years on the hard disk etc

Repeated failure to load Windows 7 HP

Hi.
Foxconn don't have this board on their list of their Windows 7 supported chipsets (which is hardly surprising), but as you state all your individual components should be perfectly OK with Windows 7 .
I suggest you flash the Bios because Foxconn had to produce a new Bios for Vista in order for that OS to run correctly.

Best of luck.

Installed new IRock sp7000 USB 800dpi mouse and it would not work.Updated driver. Pointer worked for a minute and no more, the scroll and the page up and down work OK but no pointer. Any Ideas. Vista OS

Hook up a second mouse.Uninstall the device completely after disconnecting. Reboot twice.
With the second mouse still installed, run the software to install the IRock, only using the new driver if possible. Leave the other mouse hooked up and reboot. It should work from there.

Wireless mouse doesn't work

This problem was happening on my system but i managed to fix it easily! What has happened is your itouch software has become corrupt so it will only recognise your keyboard thus the usb connection. You will need to download/install off disc onto your computer again but do NOT go to uninstall program manager on windows as it will not appear there because even though you can access the itouch configuration panel, the database is corrupt and the administrative system will not recognise this. Just download/install via disc and it will just install with no alerts unlike most programs which will recognise the program is already installed onto the system. Once the setup is 92% it will freeze for a second then the found new hardware window will appear on screen go through that process and your mouse is back to normal and your keyboard will work via itouch software.
(Please note that this will only work on windows)

Logitech cordless mouse and keyboard installation

You probably already done this but try pressing the receiver button and while it is flashing turn the board over and press the small reset/connect button on the bottom of the board and also the reset/connect button on the bottom of the mouse. It should work okay after that. here is hoping that helps. Bud
