Question about LG WD-3243RHD Front Load Washer / Dryer

Having the same problem with not draining and definitely getting the crackling noise.  Anyway, do you know where I can find the drain filter screen to see what might be blocking it?

I took the pump motor apart. It seems to be a symmetric induction motor that can run in either direction. For some reason it constantly reverses direction and produces a clicking sound. I suspect that the bearing is worn and friction keeps it from running continuously. It reminds me of old electric clocks which also ran in either direction but had a thingy to stop them running backwards.

I positioned the motor vertically to remove the gravitational side pressure on the bearing and this cured it. Unfortunately the washing machine does not work well when tilted on its back. I guess I have to buy a motor.

This is a front loader. With a top loader it's easy for things to slip over the top edge of the drum. A front loader has a rubber seal at the front of the drum. How can anything big enough to cause a problem get through the little tiny holes in the drum?

Open the flap at the front bottom left of the machine (use a flat object in the notch at the top of the flap).

Unscrew the little stopper which has a black drain pipe behind it. If the pump doesn't work there is probably too much water for this pipe. I got my pump to just work by lowering the main drain pipe so it drained into the toilet bowl. Or maybe turn the machine on its side so the pump is at the top. (But with the machine full of water I don't know what happens. It's your risk!)

Drain the pump through the small black pipe (into a baking tray!).

Unscrew the drain filter. Behind it is a hole where you can just see the pump impeller.

There is also a screw between the small black pipe and the door release loop which allows you to pull off the cover at the bottom front of the machine to give access to the screws holding the pump on. You have to take the pump out though the bottom of the machine. The bottom of the machine (but be sure the machine is unplugged) also gives access to the plastic clips holding the bottom front cover on. Squeezing the top right clip (as viewed from the front) makes it easier to pull off without damaging the clips. The pump motor can also be removed from below by unscrewing the 3 screws attaching it to the pump body, although they are a bit awkward to get at. The pump stator coils can be removed by squeezing 2 plastic clips, but be sure the machine is unplugged before trying to remove the pump motor..

I ordered a replacement pump and impeller from England (only $9 plus postage).

Meanwhile I got an old pump from a different machine. Everything about it was different except, luckily, the flange connecting the motor to the pump body. So I undid the 3 screws holding each pump together and swapped motors. Amazingly it works.

No doubt when the new pump motor arrives it will be for 240 volts, so hopefully I can swap the stator coils with my original motor and use it if the current hybrid pump ever fails.

The crackling noise you're hearing is something is inside the drain pump and hitting the obstruction.  It's possible that the drain pump has been severely damaged to the point that the pump will have to be changed.  You will need to have a qualified LG technician diagnose the problem.

I have an LG WD 3243RHD washing machine/dryer combo and it is displaying LE. Is there anything I can do without calling a repairman?

LE on this machine indicates a motor error. The connector in the lead wire assembly is not connected to the connector of the stator assembly. You need to reconnect or repair the connector. Also, it could mean that the Hall Sensor is defective and you may need to replace the Stator Assembly.

New Garbage disposal, washing machine and dishwasher won't work.

Does not sound like these problems are directly related to the disposer. Grinding sound is most likely the impeller on the washer's pump. The washer gets to the first pump out and is unable to pump due to bad impeller or an obstruction. Bad impeller means replace pump motor. (not very hard) Check water supply to dishwasher. Valve turned off or line kinked? Filter screen at solonoid valve plugged?

LG 3243 not draining

Take the drain filter out and look inside the drain tube with a flashlight.  Usually, you will find a small sock blocking the drain hose inside.  If you can see it, you can use a coat hanger to pull it out.

"LE" code Stator/Motor Error.

It was a simple fix and only cost $17.68 at no affiliation.

Hall Sensor 6501KW2001A

Here is the Service Manual

Bonus, it actually completes a wash cycle and does not stick at 6 minutes, drying forever.

Freakin service tech stated it was the Power Control Board, IDIOT!

While I was in there, I cleaned out the heater blower assembly and sensors. They were full of caked on lint and the sensors had debris all over them.

Also cleaned out all the lint and debris around the rubber seal, this will eliminate those annoying mildew oders.

Hope this helps someone, Happy New Year!

Can't unlock door!

Press "end of cycle", & wait for click or 2 minutes before trying the door. Would be good to get the exit hose off the standpipe to let the excess water flow out at floor level. Do not force the door.
