Is your new power supply unit stronger in WATTS to run your P.C. and all it's components? My neighbour had a similiar problem, 1 day he turned on his P.C. and it was lucky to get to desktop and if it did it restarted itself. We took out his 4 Ram Sticks and only 1 of them worked in the first Ram Slot. Then it would run normally. We discovered it need more Power, so he brought a new Power supply unit with more WATTS. That was all it was needed. You mention a new vid card, so did you buy a new Power Supply Unit with the same WATTS? If your P.C. never had a Vid card before or you have brought a newer 1 maybe it needs more power so the P.C. maybe struggling.
Only a thought, hope you sort it.
If this helps you out please give me thumbs up thanks..

The one long-two short beep code is for bad memory, not for a failed video card.
Shut down your computer, remove one stick of ram, reboot the computer, and repeat for each stick of ram, until you find the bad stick.

Wont boot up, have replaced charger but still wont boot up

laptops are very good normally but don't boot up if there is a device in the USB slot or a CD/DVD in the drive.
If it still refuses to POST, remove the AC Adapter, remove the battery and remove the hard drive.
Power the unit up without the hard drive and it should complete POST and complain that there is no hard drive. If that doesn't work remove AC adapter, ensure battery is disconnected and remove hard drive and RAM. Try again. If it still doesn't work, you have a mother board fault and it needs a service centre to help you out.
If it does work at one of the options, when you have closed the laptop down, replace the RAM first and test, then the Hard Drive.
Hope this fixes your problem.

Machine POSTs and boots only after a CMOS reset and a reset of the Date/Time entering and exiting the BIOS. From here on in, it will boot and reboot, unless the power is turned off. Then it must be powered...

It seems as though your BIOS settings are saving correctly, most likely due to a bad CMOS battery. You should replace the battery, you can normally find them near the watch batteries in stores.

The only thing i can suggest is remove one of your RAM sticks and see if the machine will boot. I had this problem with mine and it turned out that one of my RAM slots was faulty and would not boot if both RAM slots had RAM in them.

Acer won't boot up

Hi,
when any computer posts/boots up.
it goes through a sequence of initialising things before booting.
i,ve been repairing computers for around 12-15 years.
1st i,d try removing the ram ( memory ) usually underneath the laptop, behind a screw cover. Or ocassionally under the keyboard.
if 2 sticks of ram are installed, remove the battery. and 1 stick of Ram. put battery on and try to boot. if no joy with that try the other stick of ram. and replace battery-Re-boot.
If this works you have 1 stick of faulty ram or faulty ram slot on motherboard. Failing this. I suspect that the CPU has overheated, and therefore a replacement Processor should solve the problem.

Thankyou for using fixya.

3 beeps wont boot

it is probably a ram error,

Unplug the computer and unclip the ram and remove it, clean the ram sticks and the slot that it goes into with a small dry paintbrush. While you have the unit open clean the dust away with a small paintbrush and a hoover at the ready. If you have more than one ram stick, replace one at a time to determine if you have a problem with both or one. If it boots with one, then shut down remove plug from wall socket and then replace the other one too. If it works okay then fine, if it causes problems then you know that the other stick is bad. If it does not boot on replacing first stick, then remove it and put the other stick in and try again.

I hope this helps

Computer won't start normaly

This is most likely do to a bad stick of RAM.
Try taking out all but one stick of ram and try booting. If it still doesn't boot try changing the stick out with another one you pulled (might be the stick you left in that is the problem)

In the case that it is bad RAM go to your local computer shop and get some new RAM for the computer or check if Gateway will replace the RAM.

If there is any display that comes on the monitor such as a 2 digit code try searching that or posting here with the code.
