After reinstalling/installing an Operating System you can lose the Audio Drivers or sometimes they just corrupt.. Try reinstalling the Audio Drivers from the disk provide with your P.C./Laptop. If you no longer have the disk just visit the website of the makers of your P.C./Laptop or Motherboard and download the Audio Drivers from there, after that install them.
Thumbs up please if this works for you, thanks.

No active mixer, volume control i did the services.msc thing, still no audio

Your question is not cleared. You indicated two opposite problems. One no sound and other volume control if not available. Lets try the both. First relating to volume control. Click on START BUTTON - CONTROL PANEL - here double click on SOUND AND AUDIO DEVICE - now on the VOLUME TAB check mark on "place volume icone in the taskbar, click APPLY, OK.

NOW, solution #2 if your sound card is not properly installed or some of the files have gone corrupt. Right click on MY COMPUTER icon click on property, locate and click on HARDWARE click on DEVICE MANAGER here locate Sound, video and game controllers if there is any YELLOW COLORED MARK on it, it indicates that your sound card is not working or not installed properly. In this window you see monitor shaped Icon, which if also used for refreshing. First click on plus (+) sign and highlight sound card then refresh it by clicking icon stated above. If the problem remains as it is, then uninstall from the same window, and refresh it and window will install automatically. restart the computer once. REMEMBER TO VOTE ME.

Sound Not Working

Have you checked the volume control settings either in Control Panel or in the system tray (if it's showing?

Launch Control Panel and double click on the Sounds and Audio Device icon. Make sure "Mute All" isn't checked and that the volume is turned up.

No sound on my desktop

Hi.
It appears you need to install the drivers for your sound device.

To know if you have a sound device installed:

Go to Start - Control Panel - DobleClick System icon - Hardware - Device Manager, look under Sound, video and game controllers

Is there a yellow icon ? Yes ?
you need a software called driver to activate that device.

Hope this help.
