If you see smoke, then it is most likely a blown or leaking capacitor. Those can be replaced by a trainied electronics tech, or you can take a stab at it yourself if you are so inclined. Inspect all the cylinder shaped objects on top of *********** board. The tops of them should be metal and shiney. If any of them have a gooey liquid or a white substance on top of them, then they are blown and should be replaced. If you remove them yourself, then take them to your nearest supply store (ie Radioshack) so they can match them exactly.

Good luck

RE: mother board not going on

Hi marlonvig, what type of memory (PC3200? or PC2700) memory are you using? What type in which slot?

The decription (In you're manual), refering to you're memory can be confusing.
You're manual says you can use up to 1GB of
PC3200 DDR400MHz only in Slot 1.
If you add DDR400MHz into slot 2. The board will not support it. (weird)!
If you want to reach 2GB of memory. You must use PC2700 (DDR333)MHz. 2x1GB PC2700 = 1GB DIMMS in both DIMM 1 & 2. You're board does not support DDR2 type memory.

Need you're manual? Download it from this link. Click on it.

Asrock's home page for you're 775VM800 board.

Problem with ASRock P4i45GV

THANHTHHP, memory is very important to start computer. Some cpu's need a minnimum [a pair] 2 memory sticks
Do not plug the power supply ONTO the mother board. Do plug the a/c power cord in back of the power box, turn it on.Does the fan turn on [spin] and u feel air coming out? If fan is on, that is good. If fan is NOT on, that is not too bad because some power supply NEED to connected to the mother board for it to have a path. The power supply can SHOT DOWN if connected wrong or there is a short on or in the mother board. Look to see if ANY piece of metal, one of your screws fell in between metal contacts.,Did u put the computer together yourself? Look to see that the contacts [under the board] are NOT shorting where the screws that hold the mother board down to the chassie body

Shareing virtul memory

there should be no virtual memory limitation on a motherboard. That limit is a windows only setting that is controlled through the control panel and limited physically by the hard drive. Perhaps you mean to say video memory? ...or conventional memory?...or which other?
