Question about Heating & Cooling

1 Answer

I have an alpha 7 day easy stat wireless central heating programmer which has all of a sudden started to loose its signal to the boiler putting the boiler in to emergency mode. Having changed the batteries 3 times just to make sure they were ok & from different shops I have now placed the programmer closer to the boiler receiver in a more direct line which seems to be working! is it possible that the unit has gone faulty & not transmitting a strong enough signal Alpha Boilers can only advise of trying another unit but at £150 for a trial I am hoping to get answers first. It has worked fine for 4 years the now looses the signal for no apparent reason? Your advice & comments would be appreciated . Regards Mike Borwell

When my remote central heating thermostat is in sleep mode the boiler will occasionally ignite of its own free will What can I do to prevent this.?

Many times the factory wiring on the boiler is set up to maintain boiler temperature with a built-in aqua-stat. The thermostat then controls the circulator pump to transfer heat from that loop to the structure. So, if this is the case, your programmable stat may just be controlling the circulator. There are many, many control AND piping configurations to boilers. Some very different than others.

Central heating 7 day programmer has no power to it

That may be a 24V Tstat and there would be a little transformer in the boiler that powers the Tstat. Sometimes those burn out.

I have a Y plan heating/domestic instalation. The boiler will go off and on even if the programmer is off,If the programmer is off and I turn the cylinder stat up the c/heating pump will run,i recently...

Hi the cylinderstat controls the hot water only not the heating the boiler stat controls the water temp the room theromstat controls the rads , if you have one ,

so boiler stat set on 180f or number 5 cylindersat set on 140f to 120f roomstat to your comfort , the boiler stat works as a over heat so if the cylinder stat or roomsat fail it will turn off on the boiler you should beable to check wiring from that .

Alpha boiler - wireless programmer failing

it sounds like the problem may be in the boiler and not the controller itself. Do you kno which is are the two wores that are the r-w for the thermostat take and purt them together and see if the boiler stays on or shuts off like it does with the thermostat. If it does then replace the reciever. If it doesn't then you have another problem. Good Luck
