Well the problem from what you say is that you don't have a spare slot to put an extra bank of memory. You have to remove a bank of memory and insert a larger one in the same slot. e.g. If you have 2 x 1GB, put one bank of 2 GB and one of 1 GB; or 2 x 2GB. But check the specification of the computer to see if the motherboard supports the amount of memory that you will fit.
Here is a link:
The maximum amount of memory is 1 GB. What I said above was just an example.
As you can see from the link above you could fit 2x 512MB. It is the maximum amount you can fit.
Here is another link to shop from:
If you need further assistance or if you have further questions please leave a comment and I will answer as prompt as I will can. Cheers

You simply must use RAM that is more per Stick, these days you can get single DIMM's 1, 2, & 4GB Modules, so that's what one must use to "Upgrade" Whatever RAM type your RAM is, simply obtain the biggest size you wish to increase to, and Plug it in, the Operating System & PPC, will automatically detect the new RAM, and configure and work automatically.

Cant find where to get wireless internet on my pcv-w1

Not all laptop computers have built-in wireless capability,
but all the newest ones do.

You may need to purchase either a PCMCIA or a USB wireless-adapter, and insert the adapter into the appropriate slot, to add wireless capability.

You can upgrade the RAM to increase the performance of the Computer. The Computer is shipped with 512MB, PC-2100 DDR RAM and expandable to 1.5GB maximum. Please refer the page # 54 to locate the Memory slots and to install the RAM memory in the Computer. Please use the specific RAM: PC-2100 DDR RAM for best functionality

How can ichange memory & how to open computer

Turn your computer off, and disconnect the power-cord.

Look at the "back" of the desktop.

There will be screws holding the two side-panels in place.

Select the panel that is *FARTHEST* away from the many connections (keyboard, mouse, USB), and remove those screws.

Remove the side-panel.

Look for the stick(s) of RAM.

Count the number of "slots" for RAM.

Make a note of which slot(s) are in-use, and which are empty.

If you have "empty" slots, you can add sticks of RAM. Otherwise, you'll have to remove the RAM, and buy a bigger/better replacement (compare to replacing a bald car-tire with one with full-treads).

Disconnect all the cables from the desktop unit,
and take the computer to a computer-store.
They will check (online) to see the maximum amount of RAM that your Sony will support, and compare it to the current amount of RAM.
They will sell you "compatible" RAM, and probably, if you ask nicely, will install the RAM for you (it only takes 15 seconds). The "smaller" a computer-store that you pick, the more-likely that you'll get "free" installation, if you buy the RAM from them.

How do i upgrade the ram on sony vaio pcv-v1/g, please

Very easily! With the unit on it's stand, tip the screen forward as far as it goes (About 15deg past vertical). This uncovers 2 Philips cross-head screws, one on each end of the black box that hangs off the back of the screen and contains the memory, processor, fan etc. Now the top of the black box can be lifted off. Inside is an aluminum box with the lid taped (!) on. Remove lid, and inside are 2 memory slots. One will have a 500mb mem card in it. The other is empty. Fit you new 500mb in the empty slot for 1gb total (the max). Don't forget to use some form of anti static protection and of course unplug it from mains electricity before you start!

Sony vaio pcv-rz40c1b not booting

Remove the RAM and clean the RAM slot then reinstall the RAM modules in the Computer. You may look for the proper connectivity of the display.

If the issue persists then service will be required.
