Question about Heating & Cooling

1 Answer

My grandchildren played with my thermostat yesterday and unfortunately I can’t get it to where I’ve had it for the last 6 yrs. I have it set at 70 degrees and it elevates after 1 hr or 2 to 78 on the right hand of the thermostat, therefore, it does not go on until the house is at 78 degrees. Please help ! I never received directions, my heating & ac man set it up for me.

Your thermostat should have a hold feature indicated by "hold" on or near the hold button. Once this button is pressed "hold" should be indicated somewhere on the screen. When the hold feature is activated your thermostat should stay at the given set-point indefinitely.
If you would like to use the program feature of your thermostat I need to know the make and model before I can help you.

I have a Reliance 501 HWH, 15 yrs old. Nary a problem until now. Yesterday, HW was very hot. Today, no HW. I'm thinking of replacing both elements and thermostats due to the age. Sound reasonable?

At fifteen years of age it would be less cost over time and labor to replace the whole tank. How efficient is your old one and being it runs hot all the time you could have a tank that will not last very long anyway. Mine sprung a leak at 18 years and made a big mess.

I have the Haier HWR08XC7 (8000 BTU) and my problem is that I have the thermostat set at 70 degrees, but it stays at 77 or 78 degrees... What could be the problem as the unit is 2 yrs old??

Hi!!

Check your owners manual, probably have unit set at automatic comfort level or some energy saver mode. It should say something on the remote about it.

Good Day!! Don't forget to rate this post!!

Cooling temperature will not below 70

controllers more than likely on a memory lockout... kill the power and take the batteries out of it... leave it for 60 seconds and try again... unfortunately you are probably going to have to replace the controller, sorry

Thermostat temperatures not reaching preset Energy Star settings

Well with a boiler system like you have it will cost you more money to heat your house that way than if you leave it like it is. With a boiler system it takes a lot longer to heat an area than with a furnace. The best thing you can do is find a happy medium and leave it there at all times. If you read the paper work on your new thermostats they have a set procedure which tells the thermostat if you have forced air or boiler system. Do you have baseboard or in-floor heat how many zones do you have.

I BOUGHT A SAMSUNG 27" TV LAST CHRISTMAS IT WAS WORKING FINE UNTIL YESTERDAY. NOW IT SHUTS OFF BY ITSELF AND CANNOT BE TURNED BACK ON. I DO NOT HAVE THE RECEIPT AS MY GRANDCHILDREN BOUGHT IT FOR ME...

Remove the wall plug and count to 10, then plug it back in. If it still doesn't work ask your grandchildren to help you with a 'Warranty Repair'.

The warranty is 12 months.
