Yes you can but depending on the length of the cable, you may not be able to have a connection speed of more than 100 mbps because of the 48V phone line running along the Ethernet link. You have to understand that this is completely outside the structured networks guidelines... but it may be quite useful if you have a lack of cables. So, do that only if you really cannot add another wire without having to destroy you walls or ceilings.

Use the blue and brown pairs for the phone and green and orange pairs for the Internet. Be sure to untwist the pairs as close as possible to the connect point. For that kind of setup, I recommend you to use a BIXed wall plate such as the Belden AX100344 (2 ports) or AX100352 (4 ports).

For the Ethernet outlet, the orange and green wires would go exactly where they should: 3,4,5 and 6.

If you are using a 2 ports plate (AX100344), the blue wires will go into 1,2 and the brown will go into 3,4 of the second outlet. This will make your phone outlet carry the 2 phones lines. Some business phones actually support receiving the two phone lines like this.

If you are using a 4 ports plate (AX100352), exactly as with the 2-port plate, the blue wires will go into 1,2 of the second outlet. Then, the brown wires will go into 3,4 of the third outlet. This way, the second and third outlets will have regular phone lines in which you will be able to plug any kind of domestic phone. Unfortunately, the forth port will remain unused.

This being said, I have explained only how to connect the wall side since I don't know anything about where and how the other end is terminated.

How do i reset password for Alvarion BreezeCOM BreezeACCESS 2.4 Indoor Subscriber Unit Bridge/Router

There is NO way of resetiing the device. You need to get hold of the factory reset device program from alvarion. This allows you to connect to the device and run a small program into which you enter the MAC address of the unit. The software then sets the unit back to factory defaults. You will need to run this program by connecting a cat 5 cable to each of the units you wish to reset and entering the MAC address listed on the device.

What is the functio of dmc300m converter

Generally these media converters are used to translate a signal from an incoming fiber connection to a normal data type connection using an RJ45 data port connector so that the fiber signal can be used with routers in a computer network. There are probably several small round connectors on one side and a normal data port connector on the other with a place for a power cord.

Some businesses and organizations use a fiber type wire for higher speed data transfer than normal cable or telephone lines can provide.

I hope that you found this explanation helpful.

I have a belkin vision N1 modem router connected to the Internet by ADSL and I wish to connect to it a SMC Barricade N with a 20Meter cat 6 cable to improve wireless reception on the other side of the...

Can you clarify the problem?

Consdier first that both devices are NAT firewalls and your ISP probably only allows one address. So you would need to put one behind the other. This may not work like you plan. PCs behind the second will not be seen on the LAN by PCs on the first.

The N1 is a very good router. Consider relocting it to a more central location.

Another trick is to locate it near a central wall if it is block. By adding 1 remote antenna and drilling through that wall witha short antenna cable you can get much better coverage on the other side.

It could also be an ethernet problm 1. Power down SMC, plug WAN of SMC to LAN of router and power up SMC. If both devices show link lights and activity the hardware is OK. If not you need a "crossover" cable.

Hope that helps.

Wiring on a RCA RJ-45 wall jack

the RJ45 wallplate is not meant for ethernet. It's an 8P8C connector for a phone. Will it work as a network jack? Maybe. I wouldn't use it, but if you really want to try, wire it thusly:

1 Blue --- Orange/White
2 Orange --- Orange
3 Black --- Green/White
4 Red --- Blue
5 Green --- Blue/White
6 Yellow --- Green
7 Brown --- Brown/White
8 White --- Brown

I'd still recommend a CAT5 wallplate with a CAT5 jack.

Standard cat5 wiring doesn't match philips rj45 flush mount

Are you looking for cat5 straight through cable or crossover??

option 1 (straight through)
each pin correspond to the other end in the same spot.

If all the cables are colored the same then you need an ohm meter to identify them.

Option 2: (crossover)

Pin 1 correspond to pin 3
Pin 2 correpond to pin 6
Pin 3 to Pin 1
Pin 6 to Pin 2

Cat 5 Issue you replied to

The color is not so important as the cable follow the same standard on both ends.
It has been my misfortune to find non-standard wiring in a facility, so long as they keep the relationship of the pins the same it will work, if the installer did not then you cannot trust any of the work and MUST either redo it all or have it all tested and certified by a cometent network cable installer.

Cat 5 wiring issue

I know this is an old thread, but for the sake of helping someone else in the future, I just got off the phone with the Phillips Help Desk and this is the way they told me to wire it up the RJ-11 & RJ-45 combo jack I bought (PH60037):
  • RJ-45
  • Jack colors - CAT 5e
  • Blue - white/orange
  • Orange - Orange
  • Black - white/green
  • Red - Blue
  • Green - white/blue
  • Yellow - Green
  • Brown - white/brown
  • White - brown

  • RJ-11
  • White - white/green
  • Black - white/orange
  • Red - blue
  • Green - blue/white
  • Yellow - orange
  • Blue - green
He said it was the standard configuration used by the phone companies for some time.

Hope that helps someone else down the road.

Tda-30 phone system

it does not require the inner pair to function unless it is an analog phone. It uses the out pair of wire or the black yellow if you are using phone cables. To make sure hook up both sets of wires and make sure you cord form the wall to the jack as 4 wires also.
