Yes this unit comes with Phantom power, but you must turn it on. The switch for this is located next to the XLR connector for channel 9 and the bottom of channel 10. Make sure that it is turned on. The LED should be lit with phantom on.

I have an rode nt1-a microphone, roland quad capture interface, but when im gonna record or put the input level i hear wind, i turn down the input volume all the way down, i still see the input signal

The Rode NT1A mic is a condenser mic and therefore it REQUIRES that "phantom" power be supplied by the mixer or amplifier. You will get only electronic "noise" if the mic is not receiving this power. Look up Phantom power to understand it. Essentially DC power is sent up the mic cable between the signal lines and the shield of the cable and is used by the electronics in the mic to amplify the signal from the condenser element.

Hi i purchased an NT1-A mic . But after installing the cable to the mic . The mic does not respond. I had tried my previous mic and it works instantly.I suspect its faulty .

did you conect the phantom power? even if you conect the phantom power in the mixer it will not work if you use a cable unbalenced.

What is the switch for on the Phantom power unit at the end of my AKG C747?

Hi,the switch for the phantom power on the microphone is to activation of the mic.Without the phantom being activated, the mic will not work.

It can only be activated with a mixer console that has a phantom activation on it. After connecting the mic to the mixer, activate the phantompoweronthe mixer and switch on the phantom power on the mic,and problem solved.

Note: Mic will not work if no phantom activated on the mixer.

I'm buying a Rode NT1A, it comes with a shock mount, pop filter, xlr cable etc. What else besides a USB converter cable to I need to have this mic work it's full potential on a PC?

Hi, what else do you do think you will need? I don't think you will need any other thing except that before you use the mic, the switch for the phantom power on the microphone is to be activated .Without the phantom being activated, the mic will not work.

It can only be activated with a mixer console that has a phantom activation on it. After connecting the mic to the mixer, activate the phantom power on the mixer and switch on the phantom power on the mic,and problem solved.

Note: Mic will not work if no phantom activated on the mixer.

That all you will need .

Thanks for using fixya....

I just brought the nt1-a and plugged it in to my cakewalk UA-25 EX and nothing ...No sound from the mic ...

  • Be sure Phantom power is on.
  • Check that other mics or sources work properly through the interface.
  • Check that the mic functions through another mixer/interface.

I got a 35 mm cable on my c01 and it won't work on my pc does someone know the problem..cuz when i put another mic in it just works fine

You Samson microphone requires phantom power to operate. PC's don't have phantom power. You need to run your mic thru a mixer that has phantom power.

I plucked it in my computer, installed it, and all

Your Rode NT1-A mic is a very good microphone, specially for vocal recordings, but as most of the proffesional microphones needs a power supply. To be more spesific when you use your NT1-A with an audio console or a mixer, the microphone preamplifier provide at the mocrophone 48Volts for it to work. In order to use NT1-A with the computer you can:
  1. either you have to connect the mic with a mixer or a console and the audio output (line out) from the console to your computer's line in.
  2. or you have to buy a "phantom power supply for microphones" in order to use this one between your pc and the NT1-A. In that case you will connect at the mic in of the computer.
Personally I suggest the first solution since the pc's mic pre-amplifier in not as good as a deticated mic preamplifier from a mixer or a console. I have to notice that if your 're about to buy a mixer for that use remember to ask for one with phantom power supply for the mic (or mics).
In case of a clarificationdon't hesitate to post.

NT1-A just stopped working, Any ideas?

It could be caused by a range of things. but before blaming the mic, try a few things first.

To test it is actually the mic that is broken, and not any of your other gear, try using your current set up with another condenser mic. If this works, your mic is broken.

If you dont have another condeser mic available to you, try, one by one, replacing the cable, and changing the input channel on your mixer/interface.

When you try a different channel, choose an input that is on a different Phantom selector than your current one (most mixers/interfaces of 8+ channels will let you apply phantom to a group of channels, instead of all). If your mic works then, it could be an issue with your mixer's phantom power.

If all the above fails, then you should still be covered by Rode's 10 year warranty, provided it is not caused by missuse/misshandling (http://www.rodemic.com/warranty.php).

I have a shure microflex mic condencer 150 the led does not work and the mic is dead. Does the mic need a battery if so how do you instal it.

Try using a mixing console with phantom power ( + 48 ). A condenser mic needs 48 volts to operate. The led should light when the XLR microphone cable is connected to a console with phantom power.

Rode NT2 got Phantom!

Well... Rode NT2's are condenser mic's that require phantom power to work. So the phantom switch should be on. When you turn phantom power on you usually hear a bump sound (through the amplifier). In this case, nothing is broken.
Your picture is of a Rode Videomic (not an NT2) which is a stereo mic for video cameras. If you had some kind of stereo mini to (single) XLR adaptor, and put phantom power through it, the mic would probably be damaged. But maybe not... just try again without phantom power to see. a stereo mic won't work very well with the Mbox Mini because it only has one mic preamp.
