I purchased a used Husqvarna Rose machine, and I have a new laptop with Windows 7. But the software is written for Windows 95. How do I acquire an updated software?

You have to contact the laptop maker.I had the same issue with my scanner/printer which is only about 2-3 years old.I did not have software insurance or whatever they call it for my new DELL but I found a guy nice enough to send me an updated file for free, otherwise it's like $50 USD per year for software support. We have 3 or 4 years on hardware though. If you can even find an American to talk to for it,I would be very surprised,or wherever you may be,a customer service rep native to your country anyhow.I can think of only 1 reason why they even do this stuff.$$$ Good luck! Also,do you need the software download or are you just looking for a manual to read?

  • LENOVO Win7 Laptop PC, 32 Bit 3G RAM

  • I have a manual, just nothing else, need download, not sure dongle is included with my stuff

I have found alot of free manual downloads.I have found this forum which sort of is good news and bad news. The good news is...I may have ended up saving you lots of money...the bad news...It appears that people who have been in your situation have not found a remedy.I am providing you a link to the forum.I recommend after reading the article to click on where it says comments as other people relate their stories.I have done alot of research and have come across sites that will SELL downloads but could not find anything free.So for now,I guess just read the link and figure out what you would like to do and let me know please.I will go back and find downloads if you want to try.One person in there is right, stupid Microsoft has to change everything every 4 or 5 years max and creates all kinds of issues.I was in Perth for a week once.It appeared to be clean and beautiful,or was I in the right part of town.Greg

Are you sure the floppies are corrupt? I suggest you locate a computer professional that sells used computers and tell them what you want done. I'll bet they can transfer the files to a new hard drive for your old computer or to another computer. Be aware that the older embroiderary software is not compatable with Windows Vista, 7, or 8 so don't plan on getting a new computer as part of this update.

Have a new computer with windows 7. my old husqvarna viking #1 sewing/embroidery machine software is downloaded, but unusable. Viking says to buy new software costing at minimum $500.00 The message I...

You will have to maintain an XP computer or buy new software there is no fix for your problem. It's the electronic age the old software was written for the XP operating system. When MS changed the operating system Husqvarna Viking had to design new software it's that simple.Don't blame the manufacturer Microsoft made the changes that created the problem.

Reader/Writer for Viking Rose-Do I have to replace?

I would reccomend that you go to the dealer and think about upgrading your machine, I used to have a Rose. I upgraded and am happy I did, I think you can get the 4D with some of the new machines...if not deal for it with your new machine.

My wife has an older Rose that worked with windows 95 OR 98. the machines program won't run on the newer operating systems. our PC'S are

Yeah that's one of the drawbacks to technological advancement. At the time the Rose was developed, no one envisioned what the PC world would become. The Husqvarna Viking has some interesting information about software updates and work arounds you might want to check out - Also you might want to visit an authorized Husqvarna Viking dealer for suggestions. There are still many customers still using the Rose model today.

Good luck.

I have a Husqvarna 1250/Viking 1+ that my aunt recently gave me when she upgraded machines. I have installed the Customizing 95 (version 1.31) software on my laptop and it works fine. However, I can not...

1. Did the software come with a dongle? This is a "key" that looks like a memory stick, that is actually a copyright protection device. You cannot access the program without it. To get the program to recognize it. plug it into a free USB Port, then power up your computer. It will read the dongle as a new device and install it on your computer. Always make sure the dongle is plugged into the same USB port as when its installation.

2. Check the operating system compatibility of your embroidery software and your computer.

What is your computer's OS? If you have Vista, it will not read Win95-XP. In that case, you may need to find a used computer to dedicate to your embroidery and install Win 98. I have XP 2000 and it reads all the Win programs back through 95.

My Husqvarna Rose/3D Embroidery Studio, will not operate with the Vista program. It will run on XP, because XP is backward compatible to previous Windows programs.

If this is the problem, you can still purchase older Windows programs very affordably. Before installing it on your hard drive, I would get expert instructions from a professional, who would back up your hard drive. I've also heard of people partitioning their hard drives, so that they could use more than one operating system.

(This is MUCH CHEAPER than purchasing a new machine and all the software, etc to go with.)

Just a note: The small notebooks they've come out with, do not have the proper drive to run your embroidery program.

3. If you have the reader'writer that came with the machine and no serial port on your computer or printer, you can take the box to your local Radio Shack or computer repair, where you can get an adapter with a serial plug on one end and a USB plug on the other, or get the "Ultimate Box Plus". The adapter is cheaper.

One, or all, of these little tidbits may fit your problem.

Hope this helps.

Viking Rose 605 does not read anything but Win 98.

Ebay may have a laptop with win 98 but that is a pretty old OS. No way to register the software without contacting Viking to ask them to allow you to register her old software unless she sent you the reg numbers. She can't transfer ownership to you without those numbers on a certificate. Only originators of the software can allow you to do that by overriding her registration. Contact VSM and ask them if they will do this so you can use it.

Will a Husqvarna #1 Plus embroidery unit work on a Husqvarna Rose machine?

I am sorry to inform you that Husqvarna # 1 embroidery unit does not fit onto the Rose machine. The terminals on the Rose is upright, while on the H # 1 it is flat. If you want to do embroidery on the Rose, you will have to purchase the embroidery unit.

Sad but true
