same problem, DVD has been working, put in a Disney DVD that we purchased and have played on the same DVD player last week and we got "please eject DVD" the DVD player seems to have quit spinning, only hear the stepper motor click a few times and try to spin, but no dice. If anyone figures this out let us know. Have tried to hard-boot the DVD, waited the obligitory 10 seconds to let the capacitors drain and tried again, still the same result.

Well, maybe by having the player un-plugged overnight i will see a difference tomorrow, but for now i had to buy an upgrade DVD player, the laser eye cleaners only clean small scratches in the eye and the main problem from that is when all of the dvds played either skip or freeze, in this case the dvd will not spin or load the disc menu, good luck!

Upside down dvd inserted

FYI - This might damage the unit, but if you really need to get that DVD out then you can try this at your own risk!

Try unpluging the unit, then plug it back in and press the power button and a split second later press the eject button. This all needs to be done quickly otherwise the unit will try to load the disc.

Or

You can try letting the unit load the DVD. When the unit says "Please eject disc. Playback feature may not be avalible on this disc," press the eject button.

VCR WORKS,BUT DVD DOES NOT

Place a disc in the tray with the label facing up. Let it try to read. If the disc is still oriented the same way after it fails, odds are 99 out of 100 the motor has failed....sorry, buy a new one if warrantee has run out.

DVD will not play disc

You need to find a good dvd cleaner and clean that real well run it a couple of times that should fix your problems. If not you may have to bring it in and get the optics cleaned by a professional. But I am confident if you get a good cleaning disk it should fix it, Happy Holidays
