Question about Audio Technica AT-PL120 Turntable

1 Answer

I'm a dj and I use the Auido Technica AT-PL120 as turntables. The problem is that when I mix, the pitch speed would increase and then eventually go down to the actual speed whithin seconds. I didn't have these problems with other turntables.

Before anything else I would clean the pitch slider control with a little bit of De-Oxit D5 cleaner or Servisol. It could be there is some dust/dirt in the slider control causing a fluctuation in speed because of bad contacts.

Spray a little in the slider, work it a few times and leave for about 5 minutes before trying. Hope this helps :)

I'm trying to figure out what type of cartridge the ATP-2 is which came with my Audio Technica AT-PL120 Turntable. Is it "Moving Magnet" or "Moving Coil" or something else?

These are the specs for your cartridge - it is of the moving magnet variety. Vector-Aligned Dual Magnet design and A-T's exclusive Paratoroidal signal generator. This unique signal-generating system is composed of a unified, laminated coil core wound with a single piece of wire. Internal mechanical and electrical connections are eliminated, minimizing magnetic losses and assuring better signal transfer. PCOCC wire

Cartridge Specifications (ATP-2)

Frequency Response 15-22,000 Hz

Channel Separation 23/17 (dB at 1 kHz/10 kHz)

Vertical Tracking Force 3.0 - 5.0 grams

Stylus Construction Bonded round shank

Output 5.3 mV at 1 kHz, 5 cm/sec

Channel Balance 1.5 dB

Stylus Shape 0.4 x 0.7 mil elliptical
Cantilever Alloy tube

One of my technics' 1200 turntable's tone gets too high

You can try adjusting the pitch's gain, which is located on the pitch control circuit board. Only problem is that you'll have to take apart your turntable in order to get to that section (its on the bottom).

If that does not work, your pitch might be bad, or one of the main circuit drive IC's might be bad.

Hope this helps some.

Brand new audio technica at-pl120 turntable not powering on; cant get turntable to spin

HELLO!
I don't know which country you are from, but if the mains plug has a fuse in it then replace it with the same type. If that does not do the trick take it back back where you bought it and get a refund or a replacement! There may well be an INTERNAL fuse inside the unit on the power supply unit which may be at fault. If it is under warranty don't open the turntable yourself - take it back - I WOULD!
All the best!
